I really like Stu Holden, but that was... not a difficult pass for Freese to deal with. At all.

USMNT 🇺🇸 Starting XI vs Haiti 🇭🇹 Freese; Tolkin, Ream ©, Richards, Freeman; de la Torre, Adams, Tillman; B.Aaronson, Agyemang, Sullivan BENCH: Turner, Zimmerman, McGlynn, Berhalter, Luna, Robinson, Johnny, Arfsten, Harriel, P.Aaronson, McKenzie, White

Today I feel Ted Westervelt. Today I feel Ben Fast

For @MLS.bsky.social: ES Tunis eliminate LAFC from the Club World Cup in a drama-filled match in Nashville.

Vibes = through the roof.

Espérance grab their first-ever Club World Cup win at Geodis Park. Awesome game, great win, and one of the best atmospheres I’ve seen at a game. Only 13k fans at the stadium, but they were in full voice the full 90+ minutes. Awesome stuff.

Espérance take the lead over LAFC (they’ve been much better since halftime) and the supporters are loving it. This section is LOUD!

These fans are awesome.

Club World Cup time in Nashville!

@benwright.bsky.social breaks down the individual performances as the United States booked a ticket to the Gold Cup knockout stage in an ugly win over Saudi Arabia.

It was ugly, even frustrating, but the USMNT were able to grind out a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia to book a spot in the Concacaf Gold Cup knockout rounds.

FT: Into the knockout rounds! 🇺🇸

(“Will Poch Learn His Player Pool?” is definitely an interesting pre-WC subplot)

Using this back three shape in buildout is totally fine. But also, maybe use players in roles that actually make sense for their skillsets? Is that too much to ask?

Zero lineup changes from the Trinidad game (good) Freese starts again (great) Wright not even on the bench (weird)

Finally a head-to-head between soccer's greatest motivators

Here in Murfreesboro watching Nashville SC’s U15s in the MLS NEXT semifinals. Really impressed with several of these kids, as well as just how structured Nashville are in possession. A lot of similarities to the first team.

For the first time since Nashville SC joined MLS in 2020, they don't have a player on the list of the 25 best-selling jerseys in MLS.

NEW: MLS In-Depth Power Rankings 📈 @benwright.bsky.social and I broke down all 30(!) teams. Nashville are finally the team Hany wanted them to be. The Galaxy may have found their next dangerman up top. The Rapids are sputtering. Tons more. For @backheeled.com ⤵️ www.backheeled.com/mls-in-depth...

The only way to afford tickets to this Club World Cup game is to have a 9-to-5 job. The only way to go to this Club World Cup game is not to have a 9-to-5 job

In their 2-0 win over Chicago, Nashville finally showed the ability to close out games with possession that Hany Mukhtar has demanded for years. June 2022: "The best teams in the world and in the league all have the ability, even if you're leading 1-0 or 2-0, to control the game with the ball."

Which players raised their stock in yesterday's 5-0 demolition of Trinidad & Tobago last night? @benwright.bsky.social breaks down the top performers from the USMNT's Gold Cup opener.

😳

That was an incredibly entertaining second half from the Sounders. Took the game to Botafogo and created more than enough chances to win it, but missed quality in front of goal and couldn't overcome two pretty poor goals in the first half. The effort, though... unbelievable!

Just looked at the numbers. - Botafogo spent $25m on new players last week. - Seattle have spent $40m on players in their entire history.

The USMNT breezed to a 5-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in their 2025 Gold Cup opener. While the win may not have answered many of the questions around this team, it at least lifted the mood a bit.

FT: The USMNT start off their 2025 Gold Cup with a goalfest against Trinidad & Tobago.

Dwight Yorke rocking a "Dwight Yorke 19" branded hat on the touchline of Trinidad's Gold Cup match against the United States. Respect.

I think this is probably the best XI at the moment given this roster and the injuries they’re dealing with.

Nashville SC keep winning games and finding different ways to win. Last night in Chicago showed the ability to close out games with possession that Hany Mukhtar has been calling for for years. www.sixonefivesoccer.com/recap-chicag...

@benwright.bsky.social with some final thoughts after Nashville SC's 2-0 win over Chicago Fire. They're on an 11-match unbeaten run, up to third place in the Eastern Conference, and it's time we start talking about them like a legitimate contender in MLS. More at SixOneFiveSoccer.com.

FT: Three points for Nashville in Chicago, 11 matches since they lost a game.

FT: Fantastic win from Nashville SC to reach 11 matches unbeaten, equaling their club-record stretch set all the way back in April-June 2018. Hany Mukhtar and Sam Surridge stepped up, Andy Najar changed the match off the bench, and Joe Willis was spectacular. They're rolling.

Incredible individual work from Surridge there to give Nashville a two-goal lead on the road. Nashville had to suffer through a lot of this match, but their two DPs have stepped up when needed. Andy Najar and Jonny Pérez have changed this game off the bench.

In seven matches against the Chicago Fire, Hany Mukhtar has nine goals. Happy Father's Day to him.
