By taking this action, the Thai government has failed to uphold its fundamental obligations under international law. I strongly urge Thailand to protect Uyghur refugees, honor its human rights commitments and work with the international community to prevent further atrocities.

Sacramento is the proud home to one of the largest Ukrainian diasporas in the United States, including many refugees who have fled this very conflict.
