If you are on either side politically, you’re on the wrong side.
I’m looking for silver linings everywhere there are dark skies.

I think debate is good, and if everyone on a platform is just praising the smell of everyone else’s farts, it gets boring really fast.

Oh. I thought it was about the Williams sisters.
You’re right about twitter (somewhat), but there are a lot more contrarian accounts on Twitter, than there are on Blue Sky, which I think is good.
Blue Sky is basically the mirror reflection of Truth Social.

I think it’s reasonable to expect people who live here to be able to engage in basic communication with regard to law enforcement, traffic signals, restaurants, and retail.
Nothing elaborate, but at least make and attempt.

Do you think the government would do more for humanity than the billionaires?
I don’t personally think they’ve been very good Stewards of public money so far?

Providing incentives to give back in lieu of paying astronomical taxes is a way to accomplish this.
I agree.
We’d need people who aren’t personally invested in their own wealth to make the decisions about what would constitute giving back.
Our current batch of politicians don’t really qualify.

I think he believes he’s doing the right things for humanity.
He believes we’re on an unsustainable debt trajectory, and I don’t disagree.
I don’t think he would believe we needed to become interplanetary if he didn’t love humanity.

Would it be better if there weren’t murderers, or just different?
Also, they say crime doesn’t pay, but a lot of the money circulating today is due to crime and justice.
Imagine how many people are employed because we have crime.
Not saying crime is good, but it does in fact pay.

I agree, but how do we determine who is a Carnegie and who is a (for argument sake, let’s say Leonid Mikhelson)?
Elon has arguably contributed a lot to society, even though he is currently hated by most of the left because of his association with Trump.

Thinking that billionaires shouldn’t exist is an over simplification.
Our society would not exist in its current state if there weren’t billionaires.

It was directed at the person who believes billionaires should not exist
My position is that they don’t have $, they control $.
Without outsized leverage however some things would not be possible.
In the case of universities, large scale research. In the case of companies, large scale projects.

I like to challenge people on my perspectives. I know I’m not right (probably a lot), but the only way I’m going to learn is if I can’t defend my position in honest debate.
If I end up in a debate with a child, I will simply stop responding. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Do you believe Ivy League schools like Harvard should be allowed to have billion dollar endowments?

A concern I have is that we’ll end up with multiple echo chambers
Everyone will be so convinced that their position is indisputable because everyone THEY Interact agrees with them.
In the long run, I think this will hurt us as a society.

It depends on who the target audience is, but in general.
The two main causes are perception and exposure.
People become racist because they inundated with racism. They are taught to focus on race over everything else, by parents, schools, media, and government.
Then that’s all they see.
comment in response to

I believe that racism exists, but making race the target of stories doesn’t ameliorate the problem, it exacerbates it.
If they want to reduce racism, they need to study the underlying causes, and throwing a racist blanket over the problem is just the easy way to eliminate their own complicitness

Yes. I would like to understand.

I can only assume it’s because one persons life is seen as having greater value than another’s, and it’s because of their race.
comment in response to

I don’t think I’ll ever understand why this is a bigger deal because of this man’s race. It’s wrong and not ONLY because he’s black, but that’s the focus.

We can’t afford it. That’s the point. Our spending is completely unsustainable

I don’t think the money needs to be redirected. I also don’t think my tax dollars should go to a school that has 53 billion in the bank just collecting interest.

We need to run it a bit more like a business, and a little less like a perpetual candy dispenser.

This is not true. We’ve been downgraded twice before.
Obama was president the first time.
The reason then was a dysfunctional government.
This time it’s an unsustainable debt which we are still conveniently ignoring.

Now I wonder if it’s not just all run by AI

I live in Texas. It’s really easy here too. They mail you the registration and you fill it out and drop it in the mail. Then you get to vote for like a month before actual voting day at any polling place (usually churches, schools, and libraries). You just need a drivers license or ID.

Is it easier or harder to vote?

I’m pretty sure you need a lot of ID to buy a gun.

Disagree. That’s why people feel like the only solution is communism.
Capitalism is a good system with some problems.
Communism is a problematic system with some good.

They need to have everyone go through financial literacy training instead of some of the junk education they are currently giving them.

Ironic that lying to the government is a crime, but the government can freely lie to the people.
The courts even authorized cops to lie to defendants in order to get convictions. That doesn’t seem fair.

Thanks. I’m starting to. I’ve been attacked a few times, and I’m always willing to change my perspective with a good argument.
I am worried about the world going forward though. Everyone is looking for people to simply agree with them, and I think healthy debate is the answer. Not blind agreement.

I’m sure a lot of them started out that way.

And they’re talking about doing it again.
It’s not like they don’t know exactly what they’re doing. They’re not stupid, they just think we are.
