Guts did absolutely nothing wrong but follow what Griffith claimed would make him his friend. Griffith simply wanted him to stay below him. then he ruined his plans so he could further blame Guts.

All Guts wanted was to be Griffith's equal, and Griffith himself said someone equal to him should oppose him to fulfill his own dreams. Griffith planted all the seeds that pushed Guts to ask himself why he lived for and walk away, and then compromised his own game by seeing the princess.

and im not convinced about Miura and his homosexuality because, simply, he wanted to mix Shonen and Shoujo writing styles, so everyone would find something worthwhile. it was extremely strategic, i believe. but who knows. older Japanese men with successful artistic careers don't come out.

some of it is just for shock factor and blehhh but ive found this actually helped many men and women face what happened to them, seeing them actually begin to heal from all this horror. the story wouldnt make much sense without those elements, it's about SA survivors and how they learn to live again

past volume 16 i can only think of a single instance of SA, in all 27 remaining volumes, but i understand. the anime left me so angry and traumatized, and a few years later i just HAD to know what happens. zero regrets.

that's how we all felt. but that's when Berserk actually forms its reason to exist, its message, and it will enrich itself into a whole other story, about how not everything is over. you've basically made it through the worst part. give it some time.
