Beau Brummell's grave is less than a 10 minute walk from my office in Caen, France. Figured others interested in this long #18thC #regency #19thC dandy should know more, so I did a deeper-than-expected dive into his life and final resting place for the #PPBkA blog: ppbka.hypotheses.org/1101

It was so fun!!! Thanks to all you #odsecs fans of the long #c18 who helped us kick off a great new seminar season.

#asecs2025 abstract submitted wheeeeeee #18thc scholaring after a week in the British Library mostly deciphering Victorian era handwriting. Definitely having fun thinking about cats, memes, and social media in #c18 contexts

Very stoked to listen to Kathryn Hughes talk about #19thc cats and her book Catland with the National Archives, how they change from #c18 representations that look like weasels (very true)

This is gonna be 🔥🔥🔥 🧛‍♀️🧛‍♂️🧛 you should definitely go. And not just because I'm hosting this online event. Audience members are also free to come in costume too, just to put it out there. #18thc #vampires #romanticism #c19

First day of my new job AND going to get keys to new apartment this morning. This whole move to France thing is really happening

TFW you have 150 book boxes. And aren't entirely sure those will be enough...

Turns out packing up your whole life to move across the ocean requires LOTS of boxes. And time. #psa

#aphraconference has officially begun! Excited for this week of #AphraBehn delights. First up: Christine Charlesworth talking about creating the Behn statue that will be installed in Canterbury Feb 2025

I realized I never finished this Fair Jilt thread, but the story gets SO BANANAS including: *Attempted assassinations *Botched beheadings where the guy SURVIVED *Banishments *Lawsuits AND IS BASED ON REAL LIFE EVENTS, they found all kinds of receipts in Dutch archives. #Aphraconference

@susannah-sm.bsky.social you need to see this immediately

so much depends upon knowing the right William Carlos Williams poem for laughing loudly at this delightful gem

Exciting news! I have an 18-month postdoc starting this September. I'll be helping launch the #c19th Punch's Pocket Book Archive digital project at Université Caen, France. Very excited to join the team, plus move back to France. Now I have my visa appointment, so feels official official.

Delighted to learn my sleep sounds app has a fantastic sense of humor

Way to achieve all 34 counts

Listen, told a student last quarter that your 20s are for fucking around, doing the fun thing when you can. Got an incredible email from them with the phrase "And I want to fuck around!" Probably is a once in a lifetime thing, huh? Just so glad my advice helped them figure out what's up next.

More of #thefairjilt by Aphra Behn posted now. Have already lost count of all the plot twists... and we aren't even 1/3 of the way through! #bookhist #17thc #18thc
