I want to work on finding a feed system that will allow for posts to stay in feed for more than a few days, stay tuned. Otherwise #18thc and variants will let you see posts via each hashtag.

This little annual is totally funny and wild. There's an event in Nov about Victorian humor that has some hybrid spots for presentations even... Here's the CFP, proposals due end of June eribia.unicaen.fr/evenement/cf...

Thanks my friend! Gotta get you over for one of the events too!

Thank you! I'm pretty stoked, especially since it's going to be an open access project, so making material accessible for all kinds of folks. Also get to dig into more periodicals, almanacs, pocket books as genres. Much scholaring on the horizon

Francsico is condemned to burn the marketplace, but is reprieved… for now. All the guys in court support Miranda, now no longer in love with Francisco/Henrick. She’s back to normal while he languishes in prison (so. much. languishing.)
comment in response to post
Time for a Trial! No real defense is mounted but other priests know the real story. Francisco produces Miranda's massive pile of correspondence as evidence of her pursuit. Despite these many receipts, she’s got high society on her side and he only clergy members, so her version wins.

Meanwhile Francisco stays silent, he’s so shocked, and they take this for guilt. Priest demands he give some kind of answer and he says he’s not willing to argue against her unless it’ll help the order. Basically, he’s happy to die because the World sucks anyway.

Miranda is pissed, so she pulls him into her lap and cries rape. Others come and she tells everyone that she was just confessing when he pounced on her. Lots of tears here. Says she didn’t want to bring any scandal onto the church, but then it got so close she had to yell for assistance.

Our fair friar is understandably shook and asks just what Miranda wants. Turns out she wants to have sex in the confessional. RIGHT NOW. She flings herself on him. While he can’t defend himself from her 1000 kisses, he pulls back and says no. Again. Turns out his vows > sexy lady temptations

Francisco gently rejects Miranda after telling her that she’s definitely attractive, he just can’t. BIG mistake. Miranda’s love quickly turns to rage, she promises: "I will ruin thee; and make no Scruple of revenging the Pains I suffer, by that which shall take away your Life and Honour."

Miranda says she is in violently in love, but the guy can't do it for her. Francisco double checks this isn't an already married or incest situation... And now Miranda reveals HE is the root of her suffering.

Time for direct action. Miranda asks Francisco to hear her confession since her usual guy isn't around. They go off to private space, Miranda lifts her veil and her beauty is dazzling, stunning, etc. He's now distracted, so turns head away to listen to her as she starts her confession

Narrator assures us she got these details from Francisco himself. So clearly all this is true, in case you were wondering. Miranda sends mail DAILY for 4 MONTHS trying to get Henrick to express interest, though he still doesn't know who she is.

Francisco is... taken aback. And not interested. No reply sent. Miranda sends another letter laying out just how great she is. No reply. She keeps writing without revealing her true identity, all with no response #thefairjilt

Stop: letter writing time Miranda gets servant "entirely subdu'd to her Interest" to pass letter to Francisco/Henrick explaining how she, a lady of great fortune, is in love with him.

Cue Miranda's fantasies of getting Francisco out of his friar habit and into her bed. She's very confident that her sexy charms will beat vows made to God. So she's languishing too, but more actively plotting to get what she wants.

Miranda is surprised that Francisco is really Henrick, but she doesn't ask too many follow-up questions so Cornelia "won't know" about Miranda's interest

Only 2, but one is now permanently celibate so... Aphra Behn's plots continue to be totally wild

All these details have been provided by Cornelia's brother, an officer under the father, so we know it's REALLY TRUE. Henrick's story now complete.

Henrick cured he, goes to Flanders and becomes friar. Meanwhile, bro's wife languishes and dies of broken heart after Henrick leaves, which solidifies Henrick's project: stay a priest. Death toll: 1 Priesthood vows kept: 1

Plot twist: Henrick's bro sends out killers after Henrick. He's attacked and left to die. Cue forester who finds riderless horse, finds Prince almost dead and gets him a doctor.

Oh, and NOW the father is curious about the backstory. Many tears. Older bro now somehow more jealous of Henrick. Uneasy jealousy abounds. Dad decides Henrick should go off adventuring again so he doesn't ruin our nameless lady's virtue
