BCS does not want "AI"-edited/AI grammar-checked/flow-edited submissions because we want your own voice. Especially if you are English as a second language; your experience is unique. AI homogenizes narrative to fit patterns averaged from other writers. We want your voice; the voice of your story.

Cheddar Luck Next Time is a cheese-filled cozy mystery debut by Beth Cato (4.25/5 stars) rusereviews.com/2025/04/24/c...

Time for a CONTEST OF SILLINESS! I have one special WEARING THE LION book box. And I'm giving it away. In my book, the lion keeps climbing Heracles for more scritches. To enter the contest? Share a photo of you "wearing" your mighty pets. Details here: johnwiswell.substack.com/p/a-giveaway...

Toxicologist here! This will improve the health of zero Americans. Current synthetic food dyes are not causing health problems, and are often times used because they are actually safer than natural food dyes. Reminder that guns are the #1 cause of death of children but we are going to ban food dyes.

I already read this book. It is awesome. It has all the feels. Give it some preorder love!

Calling ASD a “disease” is stigmatizing and without basis. Tracking people with ASD in a database is fascistic and terrifying.

I made Cheesy Sourdough Discard Crackers today!

One week left!

PLEASE don’t buy into Amazon’s booksale this week. They are intentionally trying to eat into profits from Indie Bookstore Day this weekend, a really important annual event for our important community institutions. Check out your local fave or bookshop.org.

As a person who has studied history, an autism registry is a five alarm fire.

Breast cancer diagnoses rose by over 300% between 1973 and 1992. Was there a breast cancer epidemic?! NO. Mammograms were implemented for screening in 1976. PREVALENCE is a function of being able to correctly diagnose something. This is also about autism.

We used to be a proper country that had to work at accidentally adding a third hand 😢

SORRY. Sorry. Have we seen this *incredible* news video coming out of Queensland? Wait for the witness/witnesses statement

Hi! I'm an autistic author of poetry, stories, & novels. My most recent novel, out this month, is a cozy mystery named CHEDDAR LUCK NEXT TIME. My lead character is an autistic woman. #SpoonieAuthChat

One of the things I sort of touched on in my @msnbc.com column but didn't fully get to tease out: Framing high-support needs autistic people as a tragedy doesn't do much to provide them the support they need. Rather it adds shame. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

I would have CheesyCon and we would, get this, geek out over cheese.

First bee of the year, and it’s a thicc one! One might even describe it as bumbling.

Autism isn’t an epidemic. It's not a disease. It’s a natural variation in how people think…which, frankly, is a relief in a world where most people don't think at all.

I just finished Cheddar Luck Next Time. This was so much fun to read!

Siberian squill is highly invasive here in Minnesota, but it is also undeniably gorgeous when it blooms.

First place I encountered the very concept was the TV show Night Court. The portrayal there really made me think at a young age. In my early 20s, I was blessed to have online friends who were queer, trans, & furry. I'd had a very conservative upbringing; my eyes were truly opened, & I listened.

RFK Jr. says there are no autistic poets, so we interviewed one. Hear from Elizabeth McClellan, @popelizbet.bsky.social, an award-winning poet, attorney, and legal educator based in Memphis, Tennessee.
