Please. No more speeches in the Senate about “freedom” until one Republican has the guts to stand up to Trump’s lies about Ukraine & Putin. Ukraine did not start this horrific war. Russia did. Zelensky isn't a dictator. Putin is. The US must not enter into an alliance with Putin.

It's never good when the richest person in the world and the worst person in the world are the same person.

I've just signed "Marks & Spencer - stop advertising on GB News" - Will you support the campaign too? actionstorm.org/petitions/ma... @StopFundingHate

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

If Trump wants to see elections in Ukraine, all he has to do is use the power he keeps talking about to get the Russian invaders off Ukrainian soil. Then martial law in Ukraine ends, and elections will follow.

This cartoon by @mluckovich.bsky.social is getting banned on Twitter. Because of course it is.

💥 I’ve just signed the petition calling for a “National Commission on Electoral Reform” - Will YOU sign too? actionstorm.org/petitions/nc...

🔥 @carladenyer.bsky.social: "Until Labour are brave enough to deal with forces draining money out of us, people will look for someone to blame. "The ultra-rich siphon off more & more, landlords hike the rent, & Farage will continue to sell the lie that migrants are the cause" t.co/oU9z5QdWYN

If the UK was really, really smart, it would now plough tens of billions into research centres and take in all the American academics fleeing the US. Spoiler: the UK is not smart. 🇬🇧

🔥 This. “Labour cannot simply manage the status quo. To defeat Mr Farage’s sham politics, it must offer more than technocratic governance. Without a compelling vision, including one for Britain’s place in Europe, it risks being outflanked” Perfectly put in @theguardian.com

From this time last year

Elon Musk is a terrible president.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! Reform do NOT get to dictate where other political parties go...and certainly not when it takes them into nasty places. FGS. Grow a pair, Labour. And get a flipping BlueSky account. Now. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Keir Starmer take note; stand with our EU allies - do not cosy up to the new unreliable & malign U.S. administration. Urgent and changed conditions mean your so called “redlines” need to be scrapped ASAP. Leadership needed now!

Britain has become a world-leader in cracking down on climate activism & right to peaceful protest is under attack as never before. Solidarity with brave #16 who are appealing their draconian sentences today. Big Oil should be in the dock, not peaceful protesters. Me for @guardian👇#DefendourJuries

Really love this cartoon from the great Michael De Adder. The outpouring of support coming in has been truly amazing! Thanks everybody!

🚨NEW: Donald Trump has called Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde “nasty” and demand she apologize for her sermon yesterday at the National Cathedral that called for justice for the poor and marginalized. REPOST if you stand with Bishop Budde against Donald Trump’s hatred!

Nazis: "that's a nazi salute" Historians: "that's a nazi salute" Average person: "that's a nazi salute" The Media: "Elon Musk makes odd gesture throwing his heart to the crowd."

None of these rightwing blowhards believes in British sovereignty. They just want the UK to become the 51st state of America. It’s what Farage and Jenrick believe in their hearts too. From ‘take back control’ to ‘sell Britain to Trump.’ Put that slogan on a bus.

So we now can’t conscionably use X, FB or Insta. At the end we’re going to be communicating through those paper cups tied together with string because everything else is run by a complete bastard.

I’m sure Elon Musk will be coming for them any moment now.

Literally all they had to do was calmly condemn Musk’s dishonest & inciteful attack on their parliamentary colleague, Jess Phillips. And they couldn’t even manage that. Absolutely shameful.

In other news, Nigel Farage didn't bother to turn up to the debate on grooming gangs in the House of Commons just now

In the days of the paper reviews on BBC News, I took to googling any contributor I didn't know and/or where their employer/affiliation wasn't stated. 9 times out of ten they were from a right of centre think tank.

Greenland has universal healthcare, gender equality, and clean energy. Can they take over the USA instead?

It took the last government about five minutes to legislate to stop foreigners buying a national newspaper. How long will it take for this government to close a loophole that allows a foreigner to influence the next UK election by sloshing millions the way of one party?

This is a terrible example of "party brain" at work. The question isn't "how do you beat Reform?" - which would be a wholly illegitimate way to make this decision. It's "how do we stop foreign (& indeed domestic) money from subverting our democracy?" That's much bigger than the fate of one party

This mess is *entirely* of Labour’s own making In opposition they promised to end sleaze and tighten money in politics. They could have laid out plans for this as soon as they got into office Instead they prevaricated. And this is the outcome. So depressing www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

'Electoral Commission wants PM to protect elections from foreign interference' But 'ministers are not expected to bring forward a bill ... until end of next year at the earliest' = FAR TOO LATE To stop Musk & Farage, MPs must mobilise NOW www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

If you ever fancy a glimpse of what privatised healthcare looks like, try taking a pet to the vets without insurance. General examination, antibiotic eye drops, anti-inflammatories, and two sets of blood tests: £511.

I’ve reported on homelessness for years and met many, many people who have found themselves in awful situations Every single one of them had more decency and integrity than this privileged plutocrat

“Major oil companies, including Shell & precursors to energy giants Chevron, ExxonMobil & BP, were alerted about the planet-warming effects of fossil fuels as early as 1954, newly unearthed documents show.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024...

Views differ about why BlueSky migration matters. For me it’s this ‘There is such a thing as truth There are facts and we can know them.’ If we can keep a large, shared space truthful it’ll count for a lot in the face of what’s coming. @carolecadwalla.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
