In 50 years, I'll be dead; statistically, 2 out of 3 of us will be. Thoughts about culture, education, and caregiving clicked off like a circuit breaker. Before that happens - to either of us - read this.

Makes sense. Is there a chart that summarizes each theory?
I've been learning about making decisions based on "first principles."
Where might that process fit on the chart?

That's where I learned of it! Well, not by going to Japan, but reading of it.
I realized I can turn my urban backyard into such and already have a good start.
But now I mow with purpose rather than dread. π

What an interesting topic. Especially in light of the modern generalized lack of IRL community.
Lack of *healthy* community, I should clarify.

I feel like this.
I live this.
I live this way.
I love this.

In a medical group, the doctor asked us, "From 1-3, how many feel today is a 2?"
Most agreed with sadness.
He said, "That's great!"
Huh?
He explained: most days of our lives are 2s. That's a good thing. Ones and threes pop in at times, but most days are meh. That's very normal and healthy.

Leslie Vernick's book is helpful with this even far beyond family challenges:

The homes remind me of Rainbow Row in Charleston and Bergen, Norway.
So I'm curious ...
