I think I see what you're saying because Harris is farther away from themselves than Trump is.
But at the same time and I might be reading this wrong, but isn't Harris 2.5 units away from zero while Tump is only 2.2 units away from 10?

The sad thing (to me) is that in the 2010s stomp and holler music and mason jar barn wedding receptions to me represented movements towards integrating 'white American identity' into the broader public along O Brother Where Art Thou lines most people could accept. But it wasn't enough for them

But suppose it is rational for a given firm to cut workers because their labor costs are bloated and inefficient and they can squeeze more income out of their employees. Isn't it a collective action problem if every CEO feels that way?

I think a lot of CEOs are going to do what DOGE is doing on their workforces after years of hiring and competing for workers. Individually their animal spirits are going to be about cutting labor in an effort to maximize earnings, assuming that their firms are inefficient and bloated.
