TLDR: I'm doing a flash sale ⚡ REMIXED CASTLE is now name-your-price 🏰 I mentioned last week that I'm divesting all Bandcamp profits to queer/trans creators in need. Nobody's really taken me up on this, so I'm going a bit bold to rally some support. #musicsky #remix #newmusic #edm #alternative

I have very mixed & complex feelings about smartphones & social media, but I am eternally grateful for it having enabled anyone to document truth & broadcast it to the world.

INSIDE THE CASTLE (the remix by @okaydenaus.bsky.social) IS OUT 🏰 Just in time for your unhinged Friday morning commute 🕺 I included the ilyBBY / flat moon society / thousand gardens remixes with it, because the 4 of them make this perfect little arc for a slightly unhinged dance party. Enjoy 🤪

Audience metrics are not what motivate me as a musician. It’s the privilege of being able to make art and use it to help other people through the music itself, the ideas that come from it, or the ability to raise funds to support things that matter. The “audience growth” comes from that.

During the month of June I’m going to be divesting all Bandcamp profits to various queer/trans creators in my network. That’s the post.

The next REMIXED CASTLE remix to drop is an absolutely deranged doozy, and I suggest you remain here for it 🥴 @okaydenaus.bsky.social took my 6-minute experimental horror soundscape "inside the castle" and.... turned into a deranged carnival dance banger? What? Pre-save 👇

For the uninitiated: it’s like kid brothers, not kid cudi. The lightbulbs are not fully grown, sophomoric, impulsive, and I score their background music.

I wrote a song about all of you it's called "please please please listen to me i'm begging" lol no but seriously i did write it though song.link/us/i/1790334...

I don’t have 100k streams, but I do have 7 very nice patrons who have “subscribed” to kid lightbulbs totaling $19.66 of recurring income each month. After processing fees, that's barely $16/month, or $191/year. But that also makes kid lightbulbs *almost* a cost-neutral operation (1/4)

ah yes it’s “random itch or deer tick bite” season now

kid lightbulbs LP2 + 3 are cute in retrospect. They're good & I like them, but they were mainly exercises in revisiting past material to keep momentum going for this project – one that challenged me to get out of my shell a bit and finish some unfinished work I was previously unconfident in. 1/

I can't wait to break spotify's algorithm with my 4 minute 90s-throwback industrial pop single that is actually an 8 1/2 minute track with nearly 5 minutes of improvisatory piano on it

Attempting to livestream, SNEAK PEEK SOME POTENTIAL NEW ALBUM STUFF www.youtube.com/live/-fE5FkC... #musicsky #livestream

Sometimes I wonder if podcasts have been worse for independent music than the major labels. It all competes for your ears’ attention. Podcasts are long and often mindless, and that might just be an “easier listen” for most folks than some random alternative artist expressing themselves.

For my birthday next month, using the Bandcamp $ I've been slowly making, I'm thinking about treating myself to a small (~100?) run of CDs, as an excuse for a SUPER COOL DELUXE EDITION for one of my albums.

re: AI Be weird as hell. Subvert expectations with your art / music / whatever you make. Put your heart and sweat into it. Challenge yourself to make something only *you* can make, something the bots cannot replicate. Give people a reason to have hope that humans can still make original things.

Celebrating the launch of @bandcamp.com playlists (finally!!!) by making This Is Kid Lightbulbs: a highlights tour of the sprawling breadth of this little music project of mine. Give it a listen and consider a purchase of any of my albums/singles/etc. here! bandcamp.com/bgreenlol/pl...

I am thrilled to be sharing the next Kid Lightbulbs remix dropping this Friday - “aquarium”, reinterpreted by @ilybby_music 👐 This is arguably the bleakest song on RUINED CASTLE, and ily somehow turned into two *different* things, both exuding joy – (1/2)

Always great, never gets old: when someone you don't immediately recognize buys your whole album on Bandcamp 😄😄 😄 😄

The second best feeling is when you can’t figure out how to end a song so you start messing around on piano and then end up with a 4-minute piano improvisation as the ending to a song that is now nearly 8 minutes in length

The best feeling is when a song comes from shower idea to near-finished production in like 3 days.

The explosion of AI imagery online has had an odd side effect for me: it's made me so much happier to see amateur art. I love seeing art from people at various stages of experience, even when things are rough and folks are just starting out. It makes me happy, now, in a way that it never used to.

An extremely underrated perk of remote work: if you have a pet, you can have it around all day long *without* needing to worry about whether a coworker is allergic to said pet even better if they sit up like a human next to you while you're working

My social media strategy for the foreseeable future was predicted by Paul Rudd's character in the seminal 2006 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall, in which he says: the less you do, the more you do

This is such a silly thing but it helps me out a lot: I got into a habit of defaulting to posting on Threads, which was great! But I started neglecting other places online (like Bluesky 😜 ), and I'm keen to try out Mastodon more... so I made a little shortcut to gradually fix my habit:

New material is starting to feel a bit punk rock, which I think is the goal for times like this right?
