Had the first lettuce (red leaf and romaine) harvested from my garden in my lunch salad, today!

Pay attention! The MAGA GOP plans to gut the judiciary's ability to use criminal contempt to hold the executive branch accountable. Buckle up, buttercup -- Authoritarianism, full steam ahead! www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPDI...

Busy day, which included a range of things, including working on a new initiative for improving my local community, baking (whole grain bread and chocolate chip cookies), and helping victims of a two vehicle accident at the intersection by my house. Time for bed!!

So... for those of my BlueSky friends who are wondering... Barre City Election results are in; I won my race and am now one of the two City Councilors for Ward 1. I'm very excited to be able to serve my local community and neighbors in this way!

I love Spring!

Some flower pics from my Spring garden...

Also a garden/cat update here... www.bethhilgartner.com/cats-and-flo...

I published an update or two on my website for those who are interested... www.bethhilgartner.com/news-and-not...

I could repost this a 1000 times as it's the only post I've read that explains the problem with Maga. I won't:

Emboldened by the new administration’s regulatory reprieve, “price optimization” consultants are showing corporations how to weaponize import levies to fleece consumers. www.levernews.com/how-trump-is...

Outside... Glory of the snow and crocus. (Daffodils soon...)

Indoors... the latest amaryllis has begun its show.

I love Barre, VT. We are a community of wonderful people with a lot of heart. I firmly believe that community involvement in decision making is something Barre City Council needs to facilitate—and I will use my skills and experience to make it happen. @BethForCouncil (Venmo) if you can help!

To take action on the local level, I've decided to run for City Council in Ward 1 of my beloved Barre, VT. We need a responsive city government, with more transparency, accountability, communication and cooperation. Donate to help my run: @BethForCouncil (Venmo). THANKS!

🌱 Every small act of conservation is a silent vote for a better world.

And don't forget to whine about how mean people are when they boycott your companies, because, of course, breaking YOUR things is unacceptable. (Jerk!) www.dailykos.com/stories/2025...

So we could lose $200B in tourism, $100B in immigrants paying taxes, $100B in weapons manufacturing, $500B in lost tax revenue from firing IRS employees… is it sinking in yet?

If you need a break from the news, may I recommend you try my books, Cats in Cyberspace and PKP for President? They’ve been out a while, so remember that the tech stuff is from the dawn of the internet age, and the political satire is from the Tea Party era. Great distraction—available as e-books.
