We are finally going to see Wicked tonight! I am super, super excited for this movie!

“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist” James Baldwin

I recommend reading banned/challenged books so you're not like the people who try to ban books without even reading them.

PLEASE DON'T HANDLE OR NURSE SICK BIRDS. If you're close enough to see these signs, you're too close. www.cdc.gov/bird-flu/spo....

My meta glasses should be delivered this morning. I'm about to become one of those people who can post a million cat photos. Yay!

The curse of reading a lot of books is that people won’t get you books because you may already have read the book, but you still ALWAYS want to be given books 😥😥😥

Happy day after Christmas! My brother came to visit yesterday, wearing pants covered with dander from six dogs. I am very, very allergic to dogs.

I've seen a lot of posts lately saying that to support a library, you should get a card. Other things you can do: 1. Be promiscuous in using that card 2. Go to board meetings 3. Join the Friends 4. Demand the books that represent you, you can challenge absent books as much as present ones 5. Donate

Get a library card—even if you don’t plan to use it. Your registration helps secure funding for libraries, keeping them open and thriving for the entire community. Every card counts!

Today is for baking cookies with my grandmother, aunts, and cousin. It's also for snuggling the first child of my youngest cousin.

Every time you go on Amazon or Goodreads to leave a review for Ta-Nehisi Coates, Ibram X. Kendi, or Alexander Chee, leave one for a first-time Black woman author, too. We need support so much more than well-established millionaire male authors.

If you are a BIPOC writer and you had a novelette or novella out in 2024 please drop it here in this thread...lol for reasons.😃. Please share. Casting a wide net. Links appreciated.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to justify your reading preferences and choices to anyone. Audiobooks count as reading. Also, you don't have to finish books you don't enjoy. Don't read to impress, read for yourself. Life's too short, love yourself, ok? Signed, a librarian.

Never, ever put off buying book one of something because book two isn't out. That's a good way to ensure book two is dropped by the publisher. Sure, a couple of big noisy boys have let you down. Most of us can, do, and are burning to in fact finish what we started, given half a chance.

Cover art! Garrus lovers: Science fiction romance oming June 17, 2025. "Galaxy Quest meets Roswell in this quirky sci-fi rom-com..." Please re-skeet, so others can experience the joy. bookshop.org/p/books/i-th... Pre-orders are vital, so please do if you can. Or ask your librarian to get it!

I am so tired of seeing posts by people refusing to believe others read faster than them. Some people aren’t watching tv or spending a thousand hours on their phone. You’d be amazed how many books you can read if you try. Stop judging folks for how they spend their free time gosh.

One of the single best things you can do for us on #InternationalDayofPeoplewithDisabilities is to wear a mask. Make public spaces safe for us again. Join us in demanding masks in healthcare. Refuse to leave us by the wayside.

If you’re afraid that books might change someone’s thinking, you’re not afraid of books, you’re afraid of thinking.

It's freezing here this morning. What if I just refused to get out of bed?
