Remember folks: You don’t owe student loans to a department that doesn’t exist anymore. Enjoy your student loans forgiveness. The department of Education is gone, so don’t send them a thing.

"We will revitalize IMLS and restore focus on patriotism, ensuring we preserve our country's core values, promote American exceptionalism, and cultivate love of country in future generations." Basically they are saying the IMLS will be used as a vehicle for indoctrination.

Remember when we put up signs that said "The FBI was not here today" so we could take them down when they were and not violate gag orders?

When the crucial library services funded by IMLS are gone shortly, no library can play the "neutral" card anymore, no matter how much they've stuck their feet in the mud about it. Libraries need to be clear and precise why these services are gone: Presidential orders.

🙃

Hey now more than ever it’s important to treat yourself with some positive self talk. The world is loudly cruel and unkind lately, do NOT succumb to the pressure to hate yourself. You are strong. You are kind. You are trying your best. Things will be better. Keep fighting. ❤️

The letter ‘A’ probably comes from an Egyptian hieroglyph of an ox’s head. Turn an ‘A’ upside down and see for yourself.

"Library funding draws less than 0.003% of the annual federal budget yet has enormous impact in communities" @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social has a good FAQ about what is happening with/to IMLS; helpful as we decide what to say to our reps, what to put on our signs. www.ala.org/faq-executiv...

In case you, like me, are a high-anxiety human who missed this piece of moderately reassuring news: Despite many broken things, the FDA *did* make a flu shot recommendation for this fall. www.cnn.com/2025/03/13/h...

In partnership with @freedom.press, WIRED will make all of its FOIA-based reporting free to access for anyone. Public records should be public, and I hope to see more outlets follow suit: freedom.press/issues/wired...

mRNA vaccines are legit a near-miracle tech, there's one in testing that might be able to cure pancreatic cancer, and this fucking degenerate might take them from us arstechnica.com/health/2025/...

Just agreed to be trained as a manager when I'm unlikely to become a manager (⊙_◎)

When you go so far against libraries that you’ve come back around to supporting them again. 😂😂😂 Anyway, sign the pledge to vote for libraries at action.everylibrary.org

so at what point in this authoritarian timeline are librarians going to revolt?

Library use ≆ library advocacy. Yes: visit libraries. Use library resources. Attend programs. And then also: speak up! Defend library workers who are being harmed & criminalized. We 💕 your presence. And we need your voices, too. Because the folks who want to close libraries have also used them.

Just a reminder that fascists, authoritarians, dictators of all stripes destroy archives— books, museums, databases, &c— because those things provide windows onto a plurality of other ways we might organize the world. And so preserving, defending, and spreading that knowledge harms those regimes.

The idea being that it's easier to control people who do not have access to knowledge, which is why universities/schools, museums, and libraries are facing some of the first waves of attack. First you cut off access to knowledge. Then you replace with highly controlled and revised knowledge.

Folks, they have less than 1k comments so far. Posts arguing about which way to hang toilet paper have more comments in facebook groups. If you are in any way involved in art: writing, music, acting, film MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is not obscure, it's essential. There is a 100% chance that whatever your local library or museum is they have benefitted from IMLS money in the past, they are the largest grant funder of local libraries in the US.

Few politicians can successfully pull off discussing serious political matters in the manner of a comedy routine. Talent.

NASA confirms they are closing their Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy; the Office of the Chief Scientist, and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Branch of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, along with reducing their workforce.

I set my clocks forward an hour earlier today but my annoyance with dst is unchanged.
