THE GODFATHER PART II was released 50 years ago this week. The second entry in Coppola’s gangster trilogy, and widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, the behind the scenes story is a lesson in keeping your friends close, but your enemies closer… 1/46

It has been quite the year, so as a distraction from all that here are my WTF TV news moments from 2024 ✨

Question for you – what other film would you like to see remade with Muppets, à la The Muppet Christmas Carol? (One role should still be played by a human!) Reply with your answer, and you might see it in print in our next issue...

It's all a bit 'Windows in the West' today (except, in my case, it's more 'Sojourn in the South'). Avril Paton's 1993 watercolour, of 35 Saltoun Street on the corner of Roxburgh Street in Dowanhill, from her attic flat, in Athole Gardens, has become an icon of the city.

A bustling Sauchiehall St at the corner of Cambridge St photographed by Haywood Magee for the Picture Post in 1953. James Thomson's free classical commercial block of 1902 still dominates this corner. #glasgow
