This is a remarkably calm article from The Daily Telegraph Wed, Feb 12, 2025. I access Press Reader through my library ticket, otherwise this might be behind a paywall. The economy is in better shape than it looks pressreader.com/article/2823...

January 13 marks 85 years since the death of Matilda, whose name at birth was Abake – meaning ‘born to be loved by all’ among the Tarkar people of Western Africa.

The Home Office continues to be basically evil. And the fact that the new government is making it worse is beyond betrayal of British values.

‘On the day Notre Dame reopens after a devastating fire, Scotland’s finest building, the Mackintosh School of Art, lies in ruins. Is it only Edinburgh that really matters in our threadbare cultural priorities?’ Interesting provocation by Neil Gilmour. www.reformscotland.com/whas-like-us...

Big rises but given the inflation since Liz Truss was allowed to nearly bring the country down, I'd have thought big rises are needed just to maintain the status quo. #scotland #perth #dundee

"The bill did not form part of the king’s speech in July and is therefore not expected at the next session in 2026 or later." By the time anything actually gets done it will be too late. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Seriously, read this if you haven't already. It's a fascinating story, both important and moving.

If X owns all accounts on their system doesn't that make them responsible for the content, rather than just being a passive vehicle for their publication? www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

I presume he won't be able to live there because presumably he'd not get a residency visa...

This seems like an obviously good idea - appoint someone responsible for trying to get the release of Britons being held as political hostages by foreign governments. Already done by the US. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

As usual, the government talks the talk and gets the kudos, but then fails to do enough to ensure delivery. It's very frustrating.
