Although I have absolutely no insight other than following Canadian politics very closely, I get the impression that these projects, and the companies building them will be prioritized and implemented with stability and trustworthiness in mind. Nothing that can be sabotaged because a billionaire...

They know it's bullshit, but they need to build the "Canada as the villain"narrative. Their audience is incredibly uneducated and blindly accept whatever their idol tells them. He doesn't tell them that the US is the shithole country when compared to every other highly developed nation in the world.

I'm not sure. It's not due until 2035, so I'm sure some of the players will be different by then. I'm wondering if they're placating Trump to keep him onside until he dies. Whatever the case, it seems that they know something that makes it necessary. We'll see.

Not surprised. You missed it because he didn't say that. Watch his interview with Ms. Amanpour. He's replying to her question about what she heard is being discussed.

..US can't be trusted to be one of those friends. Canada has much more in common in terms of social issues, freedoms, trade democracy and adherence to international law with European and the Scandinavian countries than with the US. And they will honour their agreements without asking for $61 bn USD

I'm usually in agreement Bill, but I'll just say this: Russia is 2,000 km from Canada over the polar ice cap. Madrid is 3,000 km from Russia's eastern border. Canada's northern sovereignty has been called into question by several countries including China, Russia and the US. The North West passage..

the Liberals. Hopefully, Canadians are watching national and world events on a reliable news platform. From what I've seen so far, PM Carney is conducting a master class in how a Prime Minister operates both domestically and internationally. His interview with Ms. Amanpour is must watch.

Couldn't agree more. The Sun/Post American Media (SPAM) ecosystem in Canada really outed itself during the election, spouting endless misinformation, hysterical warnings, and opinion pieces that saw every single one of their opinion writers share the same opinion. Liberals bad, Carney bad...

Trump wants NATO to refuse to invoke article 5. He doesn't need them. In his addled, transactional, lizard brain, it gives him licence to refuse to go to the aid of Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and all the other countries in Putin's crosshairs. Although I'm not sure he needed a reason. He's insane.

I always thought that the benefit to Australia being in AUKUS was knowing that the US would come to their defence in the event China attacked them. So if the question is rephrased as: How many Australians would want the US to come to the defence of Australia if the Chinese attacked? If the answer...

All the issues about exploitation aside (and there are many) Where else are you going to find people willing to perform these jobs for $7.50/hr? Bubba Redstate doesn't want the work. Let the migrants stay, work, pay taxes, and provide them with a pathway to citizenship. It's good for everybody.

Pharmacare. What the fuck is the matter with Alberta voters. Can they not see what a hot mess they have for a provincial government? A vote for the UCP is a vote for failure, incompetence, cruelty, and corruption. But yeah, fuck Trudeau. Morons.

The drunken master justifies purging fellow soldiers using language like "warrior ethos" and "increased lethality", and then forces them to put on this ridiculous dog and pony show. In fact, of the nations that regularly rank at the top for best quality of life, all have universal health care, quality public education systems, and strong social safety nets. It's like Conservative voters don't want the country to succeed. What exactly are they voting for?
comment in response to

This is what people vote for when they vote Conservative. They vote for the destruction of public health care, public schools, public services along with the subsequent privatization. The fact that there is not one example of a free country that has prospered after doing this doesn't seem to matter

It won't be until after the election that people find out that corporate greed was the prime driver behind the inflation. Hmmm..Big companies price fixing to influence elections. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before, he asked sarcastically.
comment in response to

The number one issue for voters at election time is the economy and inflation. So, if the party not in power wanted to create an economic or inflation crisis as an election approached, they could simply get in bed with big oil and the grocery barons to raise prices and get people wanting change.
comment in response to

It's the same playbook. Declare something broken, and that only they can fix it, while in reality they're implementing the christo fascists agenda from their rural base. Take the survey, tell them to stuff it. If everyone takes it, we will probably never see the results. Typically CPU.
comment in response to

The current structure of teachers, librarians, administrators, and school boards is working well. Parents get input through PTAs and school board representatives. The CPU wants to convince average Albertans that the current structure doesn't protect your children, which is an outright lie.
comment in response to

I went and took the survey. It took about 5 minutes and was pretty straightforward. It's fairly obvious that some questions are intended to give the CPU ammunition to use as they move forward. My concern lies with how the CPU is saying the current system can't be trusted to safeguard our children.

Point out the Biden administration record to respond to questions about his mental fitness. Then contrast it with the orange moron's record and say it's obvious who is more mentally fit to be president. And really, I don't care if they were using a ouija board, they cared about people and it showed.

This is big oil propaganda. There's nothing in this for ordinary Albertans. Smith and Bell just want them to think there is. They are traitors.

Bell is a separatist, just like Smith. Alberta enjoys one of the highest standards of living and the highest Human Development Index of all the provinces, but tell me again about how the province is suffering. Basically, Smith is saying fuck B.C. and their tanker ban, and fuck the native people

There is an organized effort going on to get people to lose faith in the Canadian government, our courts, institutions (like Elections Canada), and legitimate news agencies to allow American style MAGA politics to take over. Be aware. Fight it when you see it. We're better than that. Elbows Up.

What's hilarious is that they needed to find the safest seat because they know that nobody likes that smarmy little weasel. I hope the Liberals vigorously contest the seat and at least make it close enough to embarrass him. Assuming he's capable of that, given he's willing to knife the other guy.

1. Let people die, keep everything open.
2. Hope the businesses survive with no government assistance.
3. Deal with the inflation caused by global pressure on our economy without assistance from businesses that failed due to lack of assistance.
One of these strategies cares about people.

As I remember it, the courses of action available during covid were:
1. Prevent the virus from killing people
2. Save the businesses and people affected by the preventative measures (spend money)
3. Deal with the inflation later when the businesses have recovered and can help out with it.
