And that's who will show up at TD for the game.

I mean, if Trump is going to go to a northern city and get cheers, it's going to be Boston.
comment in response to post
Oh well, it's ruined now. Ceremonial president enjoys cheering crowds.

Serious question: how much of this is going through Congress, other than cabinet appointees? Most of this is via EO, no?
comment in response to post
He doesn't think this, he just knows a lot of idiots will believe any dumb shit he says that matches their world view.

So... all of them?

What fucking cabinet secretary says shit like this.
comment in response to post
Nah fuck that. Federal government and regulations are bad.

It's almost as if he's the least qualified Secretary of Defense in modern history, and second place isn't visible with a telescope.

It's tough to go back to traditional TV-length seasons. Dark was so good, but I might watch it again because there really was a lot going on.

Of course, right now Vance is busy off in Germany trying to further Elon's work of encouraging voters to vote for their local AfD fascist.

Schrödinger's Vance. A brilliant, Ivy League-educated genius with a razor-sharp wit, but also incapable of seeing through media bias. Fascinating stuff.

The next person I encounter who meets these criteria will be the first. A MAGA would cheer him on if he was taking a shit on their mother's grave, and no one else seems to be paying attention. Or they are paying attention but the headlines are softening what's really going on.

One-hundred percent. I know this is unscientific and limited in scope but I remember an online military poll in like 2015 on Stars and Stripes or some other mil periodical. The top two choices were Trump and Sanders, and while Sanders has been in DC forever, he was then way out of the mainstream.

I'd be worried more if I thought there'd be anything left to break by the time he has a chance to run for President.

AND he'll have two billionaires behind him. To say nothing of being the VP for a 78 year-old president. As long as he stays loyal and doesn't do anything that makes it appear he's trying to upstage Trump, he's in a very good position.
comment in response to post
This would all be fascinating to watch if it weren't so dire. Trump didn't pause a beat before saying "no" when asked if he viewed Vance as his successor. But he'll be able to bask in the reflected MAGA glory while also being able to put the most unpopular policies at arm's length.
comment in response to post
That's fair. I think Vance is *actually* smart. And the ease with which he's slipped from position to position proves your point. And actually Trump diminishing his role probably helps him. He'll be free to disagree with whatever people dislike, while standing on a mountain Musk/Thiel cash.
comment in response to post
I've been comparing Trump to the president of Ireland. He is the head of state but his role is mostly ceremonial. Stop minting pennies. Take charge of the Kennedy Center. Musk is the Prime Minister and actually in charge.
comment in response to post
Exactly. The problem with Trump's kids is that he's smart (not in the classical sense, but dismissing him as plain dumb has come with a great cost) and charismatic. Don Jr. and Erik are stupid and off-putting.

DeSantis kind of proved this. He used to be a factory model post-Reagan Republican. Then he modded up to be Trump with lifted shoes and awkward interpersonal skills. Worked great in Florida but had very little appeal outside. But Vance's strings are held by two billionaires.

Negotiate? Who wants to negotiate? Trump is giving away the whole store to daddy Vlad.

That seems like a smart idea.

My wife's family is from the St. Louis area on the IL side and I usually drink it when I'm down there. It's pretty good. The pride of Belleville, IL, if I'm not mistaken. I enjoy trying regional old man beers in general. I'm sure to grab a few Grain Belts when in in Minneapolis/St. Paul as well.

It's a disaster. Though the guy he just proposed to put in charge of the pandemic response team appears shockingly normal and qualified.
