Polish and other European intelligence services believe Russia is orchestrating a campaign of sabotage attacks in EU, with some targets linked to the war in Ukraine but others picked at random with the aim of sowing chaos. Investigators have also linked Russia to arson attacks in Lithuania and the U

Jeffries: China punked the administration and the administration backed down. That’s no surprise because we’ve seen that happen over and over and over again.

Duffy: "By the way, during covid, when people weren't flying, that was a perfect time to fix these problems." (Who wants to tell him ... )

Reup: In announcing Trump's capitulation on Chinese tariffs overnight, Jamieson Greer said maybe the emergency wasn't as serious "as maybe thought" [by Trump, but he didn't say that]. Greer is a named defendant in suit saying it's not an emergency at all. www.emptywheel.net/2025/05/12/j...

The Afrikaner stunt is the kind of thing that has backfired so far -- it creates legal arguments for other refugees about animus. But holy hell he's not hiding the white sheets.

Evergreen headline. Don't do it, New York! newrepublic.com/article/1949... via @newrepublic.com

We should be ashamed of ourselves for not appreciating him breaking the law. ✈️ 💰 🙏

Wait is this the first official conversation the pope held with a world leader

Literally every New Yorker I’ve talked to about it has said they love it.

The president of the U.S. appears to be improving his own health through access to great medical care and great medical science. That's what he gets. Simultaneously, his administration is doing so much to hurt regular Americans' opportunity to achieve those same good health outcomes the same way.

1. As many people learned this morning, the National Park Service prohibits swimming and wading in the water in Rock Creek due to oil, heavy metals, pesticides, pet waste, and raw sewage in the water.

It’s actually insane that there’s an argument happening here over whether the plane grift is “corruption” What are we even doing?

Aaaand there it is.

Happy Mother's Day. It's a moral outrage that we're the only industrialized country without paid family and medical leave.

We need to keep doing this. We need to constantly remind the media and the people that these are ordinary people, not boogie men criminals. They’re human beings being grabbed by the real monsters who are ICE.

Lutnick on his message to dockworkers who are out of work: "You should be very optimistic and positive, because the president truthed it out, and I rely on the president."

It's 2015. President Barack Obama has accepted a "sky palace" jumbo jet from the Qatari government, which he'll own after he leaves office. "Everybody relax," he says in an interview with the New York Times. Everyone does. The networks then televise the military parade in his honor on his birthday.

Rep. Menendez: "They had over 20 armed ICE HSI officers, they were heavily armed, their faces were covered, and they wearing no identification. So this is who they chose to have come engage with the mayor of Newark and 3 elected members of the House of Representatives."

West Wing is so funny because the entire show is premised on the power of persuading people politically, meanwhile every person obsessed with it and thinks it's real also thinks that you need to aim for a mythical center because no one can be persuaded lol

Properly masked...

"I’d put even money that Trump picks a fight with him, because he can’t help himself. To Trump, an American pope who is not openly on the side of MAGA is a provocation."

"Under the annual appropriations act, lawmakers are permitted to enter 'any facility operated by or for DHS used to detain or otherwise house aliens.' The law is clear that members of Congress are not required 'to provide prior notice of intent to enter a facility'..." www.cnn.com/2025/05/10/p...

BINGO!

Sorry to sound Woke but I don’t think the feds should be bragging on live tv about their abilities to disappear an elected public official, for fun

NOW: Rümeysa Öztürk and her legal team speak at Logan Airport after arriving home from ICE detention in Louisiana @edmarkey.bsky.social @markey.senate.gov @aclu.org @aclum.bsky.social

Having now watched the footage and interview two of the members who were there, the amount of armed, masked federal agents surrounding three members of Congress and a mayor outside the ICE facility was totally unnecessary; the only possible reason for it was intentional escalation and intimidation.

Arresting the mayor of Newark, while objectively bad, also evidences that these idiots have no idea how power works. They just made the mayor one of the most powerful people in the state, if not the region.

The way we were treated at Delaney Hall is almost unbelievable. ICE shoved me, manhandled @repbonnie.bsky.social, and arrested Mayor Baraka. They disrespected us and tried to stop us from conducting the oversight we’re elected to do. But we’ll never back down in our fight for what is right.

HAPPENING NOW: Hundreds of protesters chant “Free our Mayor!” outside the DHS building in Newark, NJ where Mayor Ras Baraka is being held (Video: @spydermonkeywatch.bsky.social)

She’s out!! They have released Ozturk from ICE custody!

I'M GONNA KEEP ON DANCIN AT THE

Looking forward to tasting Keir Starmer's Hormone Beef & feeling like an absolute WINNER as 50% of kids in Newcastle upon Tyne live in poverty, as we have the UKs biggest food bank etc and so on. Sick of hearing about these "wins" as nothing improves. Nothing. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Three extremely unlikely elections in the span of ten days. All of them sending the message that Trumpism is vile and indecent.

The American Right: "We would have a preferred a pope who ignores Jesus. Like we do."

MERKLEY: Are you gonna launch an investigation of the reported violation of the due process of several hundred people? P: It is not for me to call the balls & strikes M: You haven't read the Constitution? It says 'all persons'...it concerns me you're not familiar w/the core concept of due process

So, I had an interesting conversation last week. For @fastcompany.com, I spoke with Sahil Lavingia, the founder of Gumroad, on his decision to work at the VA, a role he has thanks to DOGE. He was remarkably transparent. www.fastcompany.com/91330297/dog... (Gift link)

what is fascinating to me is the number of people whose “knowledge” of government appears to just be an accumulation of cliches and stereotypes + an inchoate sense that if something is big and costly then it must necessarily be “wasteful”

Republicans are flooding the zone—hoping we won’t notice what they’re ripping away. “You took food out of my mouth, you took a roof from over my head, you’re responsible for making sure that I do not have healthcare… I’m going to make sure you don’t have a job.” #MomsForMedicaid

No, Merrick Garland is not “water under the bridge.” We are currently having to deal with multiple corrupt and chargeable men and women in politics because of his failure.

“The pope will be from Chicago” sounds like an 1880s Republican’s dire prediction for if we don’t stop Irish immigration

the new york sewer rats have finally elected a new rat pope

Eveyone & their brother is using ChatGPT to avoid doing the reading/homework & we’re all going to suffer bc of it.
