Well, I killed my Facebook account tonight. They make it really difficult. None of the online tutorials of the last weeks, nor Meta's own guide, were accurate. I had to intuit my way to the final deletion. If you log in again before they get around to deleting it, then you'll have to do it again.

Bluesky is built on an open source protocol that can be moved to another server once they start federation capabilities. Meaning baddies can buy the company but you could move your account somewhere else. If we can do that for YouTube TikTok etc then a few evil nerds wouldn't control our brains
