A number of federal agencies, from HHS to the USDA, have laid off employees only to rescind those terminations days later. An expert says it "suggests something about mismanagement of government."

Narrator: He cut them. abcnews.go.com/Politics/joh...

So they removed the black chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the middle of his 4-year tour, without cause, and they're seeking to replace him with a white **retired** Air Force three-star general who lacks the requisite experience as a service chief or combatant commander? Huh, how about that

“This commission statement refers to people with Autism, ADHD, asthma, auto-immune disease, and chronic illness as a “dire threat to the American people and our way of life”. This is a manifesto against disability. This is the language of eugenics.” - Erin Biba www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Rep. Jason Crow: “The purge of senior officers at DOD is deeply troubling, but purging JAG officers worries me the most. “JAG officers interpret law for our commanders. They help determine what's lawful and constitutional. “Replacing these military lawyers with Trump loyalists is so dangerous.”

It was always Rand Paul’s destiny to be the last man to board the political Titanic and the first one to shove a woman out of the way to take the last seat on a lifeboat.

History tells us of so many who fail to act, hesitate, or freeze and then pay the price. They sit back in shock or disbelief until it’s too late. They don’t rise to the moment. I have news for you. You are there right now. open.substack.com/pub/fpwellma...

I saw this and had to share this sentiment! This is not the America we love. I can’t sit back as a white, straight woman and be nice or quiet! ✊💪🤬

We need to start recognizing Republican Nazism as an existential threat to our nation.

Appearing today in The Week:

When did firing civil service employees become a better idea to balance our national debt, than taxing the rich?

Mark my words—He is going to try to shut down mail-in voting. When he does, we will sue and we will win. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

This is unheard of in American history. Absolutely insane in peace time.

I know a federal employee who says he works from home in the morning but just watches TV and calls into political shows to rant psychotically about windmills and toilets. His salary is $400K. We're paying some people a lot to do nothing. Where can I report him for theft of government services?

About 50 years ago, I was reading political thrillers, including several by Fletcher Knebel. His 1966 novel, NIGHT OF CAMP DAVID, centers on a U.S. president who has gone insane. Signs of insanity include: desire for (a) an alliance with the USSR, and (b) annexation of Canada.

Nothing quite says: "I have lost the support & confidence of career prosecutors" than the Acting Deputy Attorney General of the United States showing up alone in court to defend his decision.

My heart breaks at news of another horrific plane crash. I'm praying for the families of the victims & people of Arizona. It's vital the government thoroughly investigate this tragedy to bring peace to the victims and families and protect everyone flying in the US. abcnews.go.com/US/2-dead-af...

This is a coup.

Reminder that the evil who was re-elected allowed over 500K Americans to die, because evil was overwhelmed and too stupid for science. It’s going be worse now.

Marco Rubio's collaboration with Russia's Sergei Lavrov and Putin is one of the most disgusting acts of betrayal to democracy and our nation. Rubio has secured his place in history of infamy.

AP is banned from WH events and all the other legacy journalists walk right in. If this was the 60s, we know who would have been with the Freedom Riders, and who would’ve been writing about them from a safe place. AP stands alone. Sad but true.

CDC staffers, who requested anonymity for fear of retaliation, speak of the increasing chaos upending their work since Trump's return. “We can’t do the science and the public health work because we’re so consumed with responding to the executive orders."

That’s the ticket. Show up in court, with your Bar licenses on the line, and answer a judge’s pointed and specific questions on how this deal went down.

What a disgrace. Bezos and the newspaper he has destroyed should be grateful that anyone thinks it’s still worthwhile to buy ad space from them. *This* is how democracy dies.

Regret

They are now actively removing portraits and erasing mentions of women - including white women - throughout the entire federal government while a convicted sexual abuser occupies the White House with the support of tens of millions of people. But that Barbie movie sure was something!!

I’m not crying. I have the means to get by no matter how bad things get here. Most of the people who voted for this, presumably including you, do not. You’re never going to get the last laugh.

Another "I told you so" moment. It’s clear that these people want to conduct human experimentation without rules or regulations. They don’t have to follow ethical guidelines for physician-researchers, nor do they have to comply with medical research standards. No paywall archive.ph/Qo634

First IRS, Now DOGE Busts Its Way Into the Social Security Administration

Musk wants to inspect our IRS data to catch everyday Americans committing tax fraud—an overreach of DOGE’s power. Personal tax data has nothing to do with government efficiency.

How bad do things have to get before Americans start considering a tax strike? If we all go in and change our withholding, and just don’t file last years taxes if we owe anything, what are they going to do? Pretty sure the IRS is already understaffed, & they’re laying off more of them.

Not for nothing...but one of the reasons we know that Social Security isn't paying out benefits to a bunch of people who are 150 is that they just default to stopping benefits for people who are 115+ secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx...

One particularly sadistic aspect of Elon Musk’s and Donald Trump’s rampage through our government is that they’re cutting programs that are popular. This is not a misstep, rather it's exactly the point. newrepublic.com/article/1915...

It seems to me that if Musk has proof that millions of social security checks have gone out illegally to dead people, he should be presenting that evidence in front of a grand jury under oath tomorrow instead of shitposting it on social media. When can we do this under oath?

The craziest part about the AEW ring being smaller is how Linda McMahon is likely going to be installed as the new Secretary of Education and programs for disabled teens trying to transition from high school to the workforce are being cut. 🤼‍♂️

Musk proves again he’s a terrible human. When Dylan Hedtler-Gaudette, a blind watchdog from the Project on Government Oversight, criticized Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service in Capitol Hill testimony, Musk retaliated with a cruel online attack.

JUST IN: Another medical horror story in an affidavit from a USAID employee stationed overseas. Says his pregnant wife was not medevac-ed for emergency health care because of directives from DC. Took intervention of a U.S. senator to reverse — but was too late. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Someone made a very impassioned post about people condemning Tesla over Elon making an argument that many smart, decent people work there and shouldn’t suffer because of him. Fuck that. I have friends who are Feds being smeared and terrorized. I give zero fucks about Elon’s employees.
