🚀Stand Up, Speak Out! is back & we're on a mission to build new narratives of dignity and solidarity. Racist, hostile narratives on migration are emboldening the far right & bearing directly on our communities. It’s time to tell a different story. Join the launch: actionnetwork.org/events/suso2...

Good news Friday! Some good things this week: - a very encouraging link with @refugeeeduk - offering advice and support to our youth hub members - small gifts which remind us how deeply humbling it is to recieve from people who have so little are so generous and appreciative

Our first good news Friday of 2025! We are celebrating: - four age disputed young people being accepted as children in the last 9 days. Whilst this demonstrates a worrying trend in incorrect age assessments at the border, we are grateful that these children are now getting the support they need

We are looking for volunteers for our Youth Hub on a Thursday 2-5pm in Sparkhill. We need volunteers to help us run our sessions, offer activities and provide welcome and compassion. Find out more here: birchnetwork.org/get-involved/ #refugees

Good News Friday – our last one of 2024. This week was full of parties: - a lovely staff, trustee and volunteer get together. A chance for everyone to meet up, get to know each other, have some fun and share some delicious food. We feel so privileged to be part of this amazing team

GOOD NEWS FRIDAY! Things we are grateful for this week.... - getting FREE tickets to take 57 people to the magical Luminate Winter Light Trail Birmingham Botanical Gardens - an amazing evening and such a welcoming space

“I don’t know how to thank Joy for your support. You gave me strength and patience, my thoughts became positive, and finally the nightmare of the age assessment is over.” In the last 12 months we have helped over 20 age disputed young refugees get accepted as children #refugees #charity

Another great win but 18 months of trauma for this young boy... so many flaws with the current age assessment system both with the Home Office and 'social workers'...

"It's forcing them to continue to reside in barracks, in hotels, without working rights, on £8.86 a week." @loucalvey.bsky.social tells BBC Radio 2 what a "pause" on decisions will mean for Syrian people who've already spent far too long trapped by our asylum backlog.

🔈On 8 December 2024, millions of Syrians were greeted by the news of the Fall of the Assad Regime. The speed of this transition has taken many people by surprise with many asking questions about what happens next, and what does this mean for Syrians in the UK?

A deportation flight is scheduled tonight, probably at 10pm, from Stansted to Islamabad, Pakistan, with airline Privilege Style Airlines. We stand in collective rage and solidarity with all those who have been deported and all those facing deportations. END DEPORTATIONS NOW.

Too often, people seeking sanctuary are denied the most basic of rights, rights which everyone should be able to take for granted. This #HumanRightsDay, and every day, we must keep reminding one another that ALL human beings deserve equality, dignity, rights and freedom.

It doesn't benefit anyone to leave Syrian asylum-seekers in limbo for long periods of time. When regimes have changed hands, past UK governments have given asylum-seekers from these states temporary protection & enabled them to make trial visits to their home countries without losing their status

Struggling for present ideas? What to get the person who has everything? We’ve got you covered....our gift vouchers are the perfect present. Show your solidarity with sanctuary seekers and buy some today... ww.birchnetwork.org/shop
