Hey everyone I know there’s A LOT going on right now. But please pay attention to the SAVE ACT. If you changed your name in marriage, and even if you kept that new name after divorce (like I did), you could lose your right to vote. www.newsweek.com/married-wome...

It’s like someone on tv mentioned there are owls at the airport.

Public Television Professional

Welp. I’m still employed. And on Almanac tonight.

saying "go birds" but just rooting for birds in general, hope they're having fun and not catching that flu

Today I learned that red-bellied woodpeckers used to be called Chads and Shamshacks www.birdchick.com/blog/2025/1/...

I know there’s a lot going on. But I’m at my brother’s place in Florida. And he has a legit lanai.

More than one person at this bird festival: OMG I love your podcast, I wish you would do more episodes. Me: It gets awkward to continue a podcast when you divorce your co-host. Them: 😳 Me: Did you see the eagle?

I met at Kenn Kaufman over 20 years ago—before I had a blog. It was an absolute delight to get to co-lead a bird tour with him at the Space Coast Bird Fest. I don’t know if twenty-something me could fathom being colleagues in the future. I am grateful for this life and the turns it has taken.

Nothing can take away the joy I get from watching birds

I needed these colors tonight.

Can confirm.

On this date in 2016 I was working down at Everglades and could egrets and ibises in the mist at a roost.

Disquackted Boyfriend

14/10 snow sculpture, no notes.

Bit of an owl irruption in northern Minnesota, both great gray and boreals. Takes me back to the insane winter twenty years ago and the great gray irruption that launched my career. Here is one of the owls we saw today.

Call the owl police.

This is also the moment where I will hear someone say, “ I’m sorry, aren’t you the Birdchick? I love Almanac!” 😅

What it’s like being a federal employee on a daily basis.

Flying Squirrel Christmas Party

I have salted the roast, picked up my spare key from Amigo, grabbed a baguette, and seen a snowy owl all before noon. A productive Christmas Eve indeed.

Sitting in my car reviewing my shots from sunrise and I instinctively go OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT and start laughing. Not as good after I edited, had to to go to 3600 ISO for a solid 1/1600 shutter speed, but a slower shutter speed would have made it worse. 10/10 good bird. 🪶

The cattle tyrant being refound in the same spot in Corpus Christi as last year makes my day! Ship assist my ass. #birds #birding

Me at work today.

I’ve heard signs of flying squirrels for a couple months. Tonight I saw them.

Best. Dating. Advice. #Krull

So if you meet someone on an app, it seems to be going well, and you say, “Hey, you kind of look like the guy from Krull” and then you see the message is read and then nothing and it’s been 12 hours…have you made a fatal mistake? Asking for a friend. 😅

If you're in Canada (well, you could listen online too I suppose), I'll be on CBC Radio's As It Happens tonight talking about the demise of the Slender-billed Curlew 🧪🪶

So as people are undoing their Twitter/X accounts they are sending me things they find of me. This was back when I had access to the main National Park Service Twitter account and they gave me a twitter mirror to experiment with and I basically was doing an AMA. I still stand by this answer 😂😂

Today in relatable science: Gulls making a mysterious daily trip that turned out to be to a potato chip factory

Trying another adoption event for Mr Biscuit. At least he waited 20 minutes before he started jumping everybody.
