So true. My husband was treated appallingly by his ex but NEVER retaliated. People said he was weak, but I saw that as strength and maturity. I knew if we broke up I would be treated with respect and kindness. We will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary next week.

Reminds me of when I stayed briefly in my dtrs house. Partner has a cat who believes the guest room is rightfully hers. On the 1st night we shut the br door and the cat attempted entry. Dtrs partner told us we shld leave the door open for the cat. Cat tried again the next night & gave up thereafter

I have a tiny smidgen of sympathy for the dad bc older people find it difficult to go back to sleep after being woken up. BUT if he didn’t let himself get so worked up and angry about it he wld probably be able to go back to sleep. Sometimes you just need to be a little tolerant and accept reality
