That is why my post specifically says “Yellowstone National Park” and not the area. The park was created in March 1st, 1872.

Only seven park staff were laid off and they are hiring more seasonal staff this year than previous years. The cuts are truly bad, and the reason behind them even worse, but let’s not spread misinformation about having no rangers, please. It’s bad enough without hyperbole.

The park road is usually just snow packed and the park plows it well. Heading in from Mammoth is the only way to get there, so it’s not bad.

While 30 years is a long time, the wolves of the greater Yellowstone are under threat in Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. Ranching interests speak louder than tourism interests in the political realms of those states, and the fate of wolves remaining wild in the region is far from secure.
