WYOMING: “Thank you, Madam chairman.” “I prefer ‘Mister’ chairman.” “Well you all voted preferred pronouns cannot be compelled speech.”

A must-read about how to deal with online trolls.

So the President has abruptly fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Charles Q. Brown Jr., and is replacing him with a retired three star general, Dan Caine. This portends a future grave crisis as the President attempts to restructure the military into one personally loyal to him.

He wants his military to say "yes sir" when he tells them to shoot protestors... www.npr.org/2022/05/09/1...

“Now that Trump has captured the intelligence services, the Justice Department, and the FBI, the military is the last piece he needs to establish the foundations for authoritarian control of the U.S. government.”

None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Genuinely wondering what the administration's short-term plan is for dealing with the alarming numbers of people who 1) have been trained to kill 2) possess intimate knowledge of American intelligence operations and/or defense planning and 3) suddenly have very good reason to hate the government

btw, i will tell you this - i have been talking to people all day, and the media is missing, whether intentionally or not, how absolutely, volcanically angry the people who have been fired are, not because they lost their jobs, but because their jobs matter, *to us*

On PBS News hour tonight: their plan will cut hug3 amounts and still expand the deficit by $3T because of the fucking tax cuts.

Firing all of the JAGs (Judge Advocates General)—the top lawyers in each service branch—is just as bad as, if not worse than, firing (most of) the Joint Chiefs.

Trump will travel to Moscow to stand next to Putin on the reviewing stand for the May 8 Victory Day celebration, Moscow sources reveal to Le Point. This year's celebration will focus on Russia's victory over Ukraine. How many messages does the world need? (H/t John Paul Fitch)

Firing up #FridayNightZillow for a truly insane megamansion in Oklahoma City, reportedly owned by successful defense contractor / marijuana processor. $16.49M buys 51K sf, 70K gallon pool w/slide, grotto, bball, bowling, 200 koi, fireman pole, bars, 33-car garage... www.zillow.com/homedetails/...

today in breaking laws no matter how obscure, ladies and gentlemen, the Goldwater-Nichols Act

"It's kind of been sad, because I've been trying to prove to people that it's a really awesome truck that's not falling apart, and then mine starts to fall apart, so it's just... Yeah, it's kind of unfortunate and sad."

Trump just made a civilian the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Chairman is legally required to be an active-duty military officer. This is another illegal move by the Felon-in-Chief. The law also requires senate confirmation.

Since I’ve been getting this a lot - if you feel like supporting me by buying a jersey or something, I would rather you make a donation to Trans Lifeline or The Trevor Project www.thetrevorproject.org

Of the Chiefs of Staff, vice chiefs of staff, and judge advocates general of the three branches, Trump fired all the women and Black people.

This is so many words to say Trump fired the chairman of the joint chiefs because he’s black www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS sweeping nationwide injunction against Trump DEI executive orders finding that they violate First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. A huge victory for @democracyforward.org and its clients. A stinging loss for Trump. Visit www.democracydocket.com for details.

The Tesla Cybertruck is banned in Europe, due to its design not meeting European safety regulations, with its sharp edges & potential for pedestrian harm; it cannot be legally sold or registered in most European countries, including the UK.

So proud of this year’s “First Draft” artists!

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

Illinois looks very different in 2025 than it did in 2019. We've passed six balanced budgets with nine credit upgrades, invested in education, driven economic growth, strengthened our social safety network, reformed the criminal justice system, and rebuilt our infrastructure.

This is a great development. In the end the case probably still goes away, one way or another. But Judge Ho won't just rubber stamp the corrupt deal and wants to fully explore the options. Also, you've gotta love the citation to the Michael Flynn case - that will drive Trump world crazy.

This is such a savvy move by Judge Ho. It’s not just that Clement has impeccable (conservative) credentials; he was the Solicitor General from 2004–08, and even Acting AG briefly, so he can participate with quite a bit of perspective as to the proper role of the Department of Justice.

I’ll keep pushing this line of analysis because I’m increasingly convinced the clearest path out of this mess is for Dems to adopt a relentless anti-corruption, anti-inequality, anti-oligarchy, pro-democracy platform. The Dem leadership hasn’t realized it yet, but they’re now a reform party.

Such hostile nonsense from Americans in power just now. I wish we would listen to people who have suffered for reporting the truth, like Stanislav Aseyev, combat veteran and survivor of a Russian torture camp.

Rep Raskin has been great. Rep Ocasio-Cortez has been great. And Rep Frost and Rep Crockett. Senator Murphy. Maybe no one knew exactly what to do. But such people laid down a clear marker. Let’s respect these and other elected federal representatives who stood out these first few weeks.

"The increase to Musk's wealth since Trump was elected president three months ago is greater than all of the American aid given to Ukraine over the last three years."-- @timothysnyder.bsky.social

We've reached the point when European neo-Nazis are no longer comfortable being publicly associated with American neo-Nazis.

Trump continues to take actions that empower China. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/19/w...

Trump: "I'm...we are the federal law." This is like live tyranny. He asserts he can just order sovereign states to do things.

Trump Concentration Camps

2 fucking headlines right next to each other

There have never been kings in America. The monarchy doesn't start now.

This is @sonofrockhound.bsky.social! Tell him you love him!

Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

JUST NOW: Trump again refuses to call Putin a “dictator”, despite calling Zelensky one repeatedly He will not criticize Putin

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.
