...people thought a sock store in a video game was unrealistic and stupid? We have *many* sock stores around here...

How is it that we haven't destroyed this place yet? Bring up some demolition equipment and take out a wall! There's no excuse for permitting it to remain in function! We need to bring down every last employee and free all the detainees IMMEDIATELY. Why haven't we done this yet?

This post brought to you by two douchebags on the train who seemed to believe that being asked to turn their music down was somehow the worst offense in all human history that merited all manner of horrid insults, and everyone else who sat there in silence while this happened. ARE YOU EVEN HUMAN?

I wouldn't call it either. It's a city, not a suburb, for one. And for two, wealthy? Not when I lived there. It was exceedingly middle class.

It would always confuse me especially since I was usually interested in both of them. Barbies are cool, Ninja Turtles are cool, why make me choose?

Ah yes this is true

This isn't to say that I'm doing nothing today. I'm going to a Pride event in north Portland. I advocate in doing things at all levels, and Just Living Our Lives already infuriates fascists so let's keep doing that.

But you shouldn't ever have to! Those can still be traced. And who knows who's showing up at the old address? It's such a dangerous concept.

As I've said I'm really against this "don't fight back no matter what they do to you" sort of resistance because it ISN'T resistance, it's passivity. Self defense is a basic human right and to see so many groups advocate doing nothing when someone is bearing down on you with a nightstick is gross.

Also no I'm not going to one of the big things today because one, I still don't trust this spate of brand new groups and ESPECIALLY not one that demands your name and address to so much as know the start time, and two, I WILL punch a fascist and that would likely result in getting my kneecaps shot.

It's still not "the most". "The most" would be direct action to physically prevent bigots from terrorizing us.

You'd think a store at any such event would be open to everyone since they'd get more money that way.

I just use the one stage upgrade the combo meal at Blueberry will get you.

Nominative determinism, the same way that Pokémon type specialists decide what to train.

Yes I thought so as well!

You are a real condescending asshole and I'm blocking you.

"Alarmist BS" to say that they should probably pick a different word, yeah sure. You have nothing of value to say here.

Depends on how much it seeps into their daily life. A lot of the time it's just simple wish fulfilment. Like earlier I was imagining that my blorbos was at the bookstore with me, but then I met up with my family for dinner.

I'll be able to check later. Right now my cards are in the den and my pet parrot sleeps in there and I have a feeling she's still awake but she'll be reeeeal grouchy if I go in there for cards right now. But tomorrow I can sort through them to my heart's content.

But I don't assume everyone's experience is similar. I assume the people who I experienced things WITH have similar experiences to me, and yet their reactions are somehow never even close to mine.

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SHIRT
comment in response to post
I think I have some of those. And this would be a card for how much art?
comment in response to post
How should I know? To me I have the same experiences as those around me.

You and HOPEFULLY the OP don't constitute "many people".

I get that (though honestly I can't think of any of those characters who live in basements. Even Comic Book Guy lives in the back of his store). But my point is how did that come to be the predominant vision of ANYONE living in a basement? Overriding anything else?
comment in response to post
Right but how did that get to be the predominant vision of anyone residing in a basement?
comment in response to post
But many other people have also lived in basements. It has nothing to do with any of those elements. How did that get to be the prevailing image of such a person?

I have a lot of the gym leader cards but not that one sadly.
comment in response to post
I have cards from *most* sets though I may not have specifics. I also have bought some lots of bulk cards. Any mons or human characters you're especially interested in?
comment in response to post
I have many cards. What are you looking for?
