Nervous Musk, Trump, Vance have all been outclassed in public arguments these last few days. Government failure, stock market crash, and dictatorial alliances are not popular. People are starting to realize that there is no truth here beyond the desire for personal wealth and power. (2/2)

Kristen Grind, my San Franciso-based NYT colleague, and I went through every federal investigation/lawsuit targeting Musk companies. What did we find? At least 11 federal agencies targeting Musk companies have seen leadership disruptions/changes that could undermine these efforts -- and benefit Musk

3/ different pieces fit together. There also seems to be a significant amount of downloading government data onto private servers, etc, totally outside any cybersecurity regime. Additionally it’s unclear to the people inside whether the people doing these things actually work for the US govt…

He is trying to create a chaotic environment in which normal order is broken down and replaced by rule by fiat. Cruelty to disfavored out groups may well be a welcome outcome, but I think instead the point is not to hurt people but instead is to hurt our very system of government
