Maybe a lot of these services are gone for good. But I think most do actually have tangible benefit that will be felt as they’re cut. Some will end up being re-hires

Do some programs feel silly and/or could be cut? Sure. And some will just be priorities—ie fuck the environment etc
I won’t be surprised to end up seeing fairly mild net change in the end ~2yr from now. Most USAID programs will end up functioning under State; Dept of Ed under other agencies

Problem is that a vast majority of government programs work really well and/or provide very specific and helpful services for very specific people or industries
Is there fraud and abuse? Of course. It is continually monitored and you can argue even more resources can be focused here
