Hi Christine!
Indeed, I live in the countryside between forest & grain fields. I avidly feed the little Finnish song birds here. It was a sunny but chilly day today and the little guys were chowing down the peanuts, suet, and unshelled sunflower seeds! Had a couple of newcomers today! ๐๐

Thank you -- completely untouched photo, straight from my iPhone. As soon as I saw the sunset, I grabbed my phone and took several photos. Almost as soon as I finished, the red had disappeared! ๐

Hi back! Come on over, it's a fun place to visit. Lots of direct flights between Helsinki and all the major German airports. It would be a pleasure to meet for coffee downtown near the harbor.
Be well,
J.J.

Hi!
My wife accepted a position here, so we thought we would give Finland a try. We had been in Ohio.
Now that I/we are here and settled, we are never moving back to the States. We are so happy here.
You should definitely try for citizenship! You have a chance with the Finn grandparent.
Best,
J.J.

Hi Jason!
Thanks for your note! Now living in the remote countryside near Mallusjoki, about 25 minute drive from Lahti. Originally from Los Angeles (yes, complete extremes!). My Finnish is abysmal, but I get by. I'm now 10 yrs in Finland -- congratulations on 20 years!
Best back to you!

Hi Jason!
It's actually been a relatively mellow winter this year, save for a bit of an icy stretch some time ago in late January.
Speaking of Turku, we just received an invitation for a wedding there this summer and we always look forward for an excuse to visit Turku.
Kind regards,
J.J.

However, in most cases as your grandfather was a Finn, you are actually eligible for Finnish citizenship
The citizenship process takes considerable time, lots of energy & some money, but if you are seriously interested, consider it
I am never leaving Finland
