Isn't that what the iPhone shows when the other person is "typing"? Three blue dots or something (don't know for sure, don't have an iPhone).

We had a game called Just A Minute (JAM) in college where you had to speak "extempore" on a random topic for a minute and you'd get penalized for using undefined definite articles or pronouns.

It is also a good age to start learning how to clean up a mess that you've made.

Yeah, more or less the same thing except popovers are sweetish. Also Yorkshire, Massachusetts became the state of Maine, so we no longer have a Yorkshire this side of the pond.

I don't know what you're watching, but these are mentions of the last time I watched #totp, which would have been in the '80s.

Thanks! Any idea how long they stick around? Will they multiply on their own or do their numbers stay steady/decline? Just wondering if we'll end up with 100k ladybugs in a few months.
comment in response to post
Where do you get the ladybugs from? We spent a few days soaking the soil in neem oil and then drying it in the sun before using it just to kill any aphid eggs that may be dormant in there.

technically, let them eat brioche (cake is a bad translation), but I suppose if it's left out too long it becomes pain perdu?

My doctor never wants me to get an x-ray except to check for pneumonia.

not what we'd consider modern website design :)

It's been 30 years since I did any serious electronics so I might very well be wrong, but perhaps a zener diode would help here.

Reminds me of the visitor counters we used to have in the '90s.

I remember one year velocity conf served asparagus for lunch. The urinals were not a good place to visit that day.

As someone whose entire grad school education was centered around "train people to fix Y2K problems in COBOL" I have to say "NOOOOOOOOOO!"

Curious if you could use U+2019 in a domain name where you need an apostrophe.

Oh yeah, the joys of doing CSS when it first came out. But IE had so many weird things, like document.domain was a different kind of String than other JavaScript strings.

I still remember back in the day when SELECT elements on IE for Windows had their own z-index independent of everything else on the page because it was implemented as a different type of window object.

I was advising a few speakers from India who wanted to speak at a conference in the US. The wait time for a visa is almost 2 years. They would have to apply for a visa a year before the CfP opened. Their best bet would be to first fly to Jamaica or maybe spend a week in Ireland.

Yes, I would say that is one of the most common questions we hear as well.

Our 8yo sings along with 80s pop rock as well mainly because that's the only thing I play on the radio. Sometimes he makes up his own words like "Another one tries to dust"
