Late- diagnosed AuDHD she/they tryna survive late stage capitalism.
I have two advanced degrees, including a doctorate in Naturopathic medicine that I don't use cause the medical field is an actual nightmare and I have cPTSD 🙃
Anyway, fuck fascism 🤘🏻

Millennials heard about it too 😑 My boomer mother used to tell stories about refusing to sit next to black people in school when she was a teenager in the 70s. It's all very gross.

Useless advice is useless.

Most of all, I'm taking the advice of a dear friend who passed away yesterday: "Don't forget to have fun. Because fun is necessary... Also, remember that every little thing that you do means something. Everything. Walking by people you don't know and smiling is the best thing that you can do."

Trying to remember to fall back on what brings me joy. Theatre. Gaming. Streaming.
Trying to remember that I don't have to do everything by myself. Partners. Friends. Colleagues.
Trying to remember that my authentic self has value, even if I'm awkward sometimes.

Don't even get me started on the seemingly unending process that has been my burnout recovery, financial struggles, medical issues, and mental health stuff. But this is the world right now and I'm doing what I can, however slow I might be moving.

On the other hand, I'm joining professional organizations, researching and training in gender-affirming care, looking at university teaching jobs, and still trying to get my medical license for this state as though the future isn't resting on a foundation of quicksand.

I understand enough about human psychology, sociology, and history to know that forced censorship. Is bad. No matter who is doing it.
But, "the party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears." And here we are.

I know enough to know right from wrong. I know that laws that infringe on bodily autonomy are not ethical. Period.
I know enough to know that a few thousand people shouldn't hold more wealth and resources than the rest of us combined. Especially when so many struggle.

Not only have I lived in many different places, thereby experiencing a variety of cultures, customs, and local economies, but I've also been privileged enough to have traveled from coast to coast in the southern US as well as abroad in Europe.
People are people are people. I promise you.

There are a number of subjects where I have surface or slightly advanced knowledge. And a select few where I would consider myself an expert.
My interests and stores of knowledge are varied, ranging from arts & crafts to knowing the names of all the B vitamins.

There's a lot I would need to research if I wanted to start a vegetable garden (hoping to get to that sometime this year). Car maintenence gives me anxiety, forreal. VERY few things I could do to my own car without extensive reading and watching of tutorials.

When one of those people is your therapist. And another is a trusted elder.
There's a lot I don't know in the grand scheme of human existence. I don't know shit about sailboats, for example. Or tractors. Or how to coach football. Tbh I'd say I know every little about sports in general 🤷♀️

Still got some avenues to explore, but man, it's wild to think that this is my life now 🫠

I think about this a lot and wonder how there are millennials who don't give a damn. For me it was 1984, Animal Farm, Their Eyes Were Watching Good, Brave New World, Diary of Anne Frank, A Raisin in the Sun, and A Dream Deferred. Tho I will admit some things were lost on me as a kid. Still.

I'm sorry, but what the ACTUAL fuck...??? (For context, my dad's side of the family is Cajun)

That's fair, I can see why that could be seen as derailing the discussion. Apologies, I meant no disrespect 💙

Oh I know 😊 💙 I also treated Latinos and Indigenous folks. The clinic I managed was in the southwest. Many of my patients had stories of ER docs dismissing their concerns after their car accident, but I found that black women were ignored the most by far. There's a reason that job broke my soul 😞

As a doctor who used to treat pain for BIPOC who had been in a car accident, I can confirm that doctors are constantly dismissing BIPOC medical concerns. It's *infuriating*
