Yes. Blue line assholes. It’s not like any cop, especially head cop, ever signed up to make the force more humane. I feel like they should be required to have PhDs in Human Rights.

As an American who lives in Los Angeles (hosting both the World Cup and the Olympics), I agree.

Luna is an OK Sheriff. We don't know what went down, orders-wise. I wish LASD said "No, you shouldn't be here unless we ask for your help and we did not." Everyone in LA Law Enforcement should take that position.
I hope Bass, Luna and McDonnell have a presser ASAP. They are NOT arresting criminals.

Protect what peace? There wasn't peace. They were there to assist ICE in controlling citizens. That is all.

I don't know. We're a sanctuary city. What does that mean if we can't legally remove belligerents from our streets? Send them packing?

Well, we are def in "lasting damage" territory already.

No one elected in Los Angeles is pro these raids. This is 100% pure Federal Govt action, ICE and Nat'l guard. That said, if people cared enough to vote, we wouldn't be here.

Military coups have almost always been bad. Farouk of Egypt, maybe not so bad. I have been fantasizing that there's a way. I don't know that an admin could be much worse, though violent conditions are terrifying.

Okay then. Let's hope they try.

McDonnell is fantastic, as is the sheriff. The troops? It's a long and bad culture they've carried since Darryl Gates as chief and, recently, Villanueva as sheriff. so many were MAGA during COVID - no masks but big sticks.

and if it hurts them, they blame "the left" for trying to pry them away from that orange fvck.

That's optimism but the LAPD have never been on the side of the people as long as I've lived here.

we haven't seen them back away from stupidity yet so I don't know what you're imagining.

I don't know about that. The LAPD joined in pretty quick yesterday.

No matter how old or disabled or family-caregiving-as-job they are. Honestly, they will probably just grumble that immigrants and prisoners get that stuff for free.

I’ve had three or four so-called friends tell me that they thought Tim is part of the reason Harris lost. Such a dumb take. He’s what we need more of.
comment in response to

Yeah, they have no evidence at all. Sure - I wish it hadn't been left to a handful of non-voters but that is our damn system. We must fight/expect voter suppression to rage on but the reality is there are millions of voters who don't pay attention to the truly awful things that don't happen to them.

Not in what you put up. Show me 'switched' votes. There are 'anomalies' every election. Each ballot has a serial# and is recorded. Does anyone have one that shows switching? It's all speculation. I actually saw someone citing the Harris rallies, just as MAGAs did in 2020. Don't be like them.

It doesn’t feel comfortable - that’s absurd and insulting. Embracing suspect and fungible data is the solution for those desperate to not do the work of addressing real issues. It was 4 states. Don’t lecture me on data analysis. 2004 is one thing - Gore won. But Trump won in 2024.

Inflation was declining under Biden. The coffee I used to buy for $12/12 oz is now $18. That’s tariffs
comment in response to

Yes. Voter suppression won. There’s no hard data that Harris won in what you posted. The fact there’s an admission she did not get 100% of Biden voters in the swing states is enough to describe why she lost. Our elections are always too perilously close.

Harris’s ground game was most similar to Obama ‘08. It is not hard to train folks to canvass. Harris had many volunteers, and not stupid ones. Many Americans don’t pay attention to anything other than prices: Obama almost lost in ‘12.
Clark County’s #1 issue is and always has been voter apathy

Elias never claimed to know everything. What I know is that election fraud is not a difficult phenomenon to detect, especially if perpetrated by challengers. I also worked in Clark County in 2016 I saw the Clinton campaign using Obama’s 2012 data. I know incompetence/a mistake when I see it as well.
