This is an honest question that more people should be asking. If democracy was truly on the ballot (as it clearly was based on the last month), then these wildly popular and powerful people who benifit so much from public and cultural support should be fighting with us

I can already see the next establishment dem campaign spending an entire month with pence on the trail. Glad he spoke up. But that's the end of it. These are not your allies, not yet. And the allies you do embrace need to have power and popularity to matter. This ain't it.

Look into tuta. It's a perfectly viable alternative. Bonus points for being a green company and not playing the ai or crypto game (imo)

Yeah, this is a tricky one. I imagine this is in reference to wwII... but then you look at all US involvement in Central and south America and the global south and its a very different and much longer story.

"10 years ago, Republicans were the party of big business and Dems stood for the little guys, but today the tables have completely turned.” At best this shows an incoherent understanding of what the republican party it's and has been about. theintercept.com/2025/01/28/p...

Possibly. Not a certainty though. What we can do for now is punish the collaborators and reward the holdouts. If you have a website and can create a custom email then this game of whack-a- mole becomes less of a burden

Tutamail or fastmail. Proton's ceo is playing footsie with maga. Personally, I don't think they can be trusted as long as he is in the lead.
comment in response to post
I'd reconsider. The ceo is playing footsie with maga.

I have my doubts about Falcon stepping into the role of Cap without taking the serum (someone correct me if I missed something, the movies lost me after the wrapped endgame), the character has always just been boring to me. but I'll still give it a shot to see how they did.

Honestly, yeah. I don't need a game on 4 days a week. Sundays with the special Monday game was kinda perfect imo. Tldr: death to Thursday night football!

The mystification of the algorithm has been a convenient cover for the manipulation of what is seen and what is uplifted for too long. Glad to see yall attacking this issue

Whenever I see someone talking general strike in our here and now they get an immediate side eye. Larper, saboteur or naive. That's where my mind goes.

against regular folk? In this age where people identify with products and brands and platforms as much as they do the very real communities that they live in, I shouldn't be surprised. But, Gods be damned. Shit's sad.

Have we really become so hollowed out as a people that we won't move away from the people actively making our lives worse? Are we really so captured as a national audience that we can only imagine existing nestled up to the people who are, and have been, engaging in open class warfare...

Slaves. That's who. Slave labor from prisons. Watch the party of "law and order" ramp up imprisonment schemes and the companies you know and love eagerly make use of that slave labor that gets paid pennies on the dollar, with inhumane conditions and no threat of unionization. All legal.

The masculinity they speak of is that of their main audience: teenage and preteen boys. This is audience capture and we're all suffering for it. (Only semi unserious)

Moved all my activities away from Google to proton. Was pretty satisfied too. Yall literally could could have said nothing and just did your thing, but now it's time to move out. Fucking shame.

Also, early Tom Waits is extremely jazz inspired and I think it's some of his best work.
comment in response to post
It really depends on what subgenre you get exposed to. Anyone "jazz curious " should try this on: youtu.be/p4qROUGMu8k?... Try her album "ghost song" to see a creative explosion Also, try out Karen Souza. She does a lot of covers of pop and rock classics and has the best jazz voice in the game.

The Graveyard Book was pretty great and got me out of a reading rut. I would have recommended it to anyone looking to get into him, but... Was also looking to get into more of his work, since I'd only read that title from him, but...

I've never seen an app so broken that it scared me away from a service for good until I tried Qobuz. Hopefully they figured their mess out, but the android app was almost intentionally bad just a year ago when I tried it.

So, you either aren't beating the troll aligations or you limit your imagination of the possible to only what is while ignoring the viable alternatives. Either way, have fun aggressively defending an entire industry that profits on the sickness, misery and death of your fellow human being.
comment in response to post
Why the qualifier? A public option is absolutely viable as long as it cuts out the profit motive. But, universal Healthcare is better, to answer your oddly contorted question.
comment in response to post
Not seeing why profiting off people's sickness, misery and death isn't being overwhelmingly defended in this moment is wildly out of touch.
