I implemented this and it works great! If I released it as a separate library (as an alternative to tiktoken) would anyone be interested? I haven't benchmarked it vs tiktoken yet but it should be significantly faster (tiktoken uses a regex)

you could solve this by having one device generate a qr code with your private key that you scan from the other device but that's annoying. and obviously if you're using a client that doesn't support encryption all your encrypted messages show up as base64 vomit
