CJ Abrams hit an opposite-field homer last night, something he didn't do once last season. On the Nats shortstop's concerted effort to drive the ball the other way more this year: www.masnsports.com/blog/abrams-...

The Nats & Orioles have announced a multi-year exhibition series to end each team's spring schedule. It will start this year on March 24 at Nats Park, as @markzuckerman.bsky.social reported. From 2026-29, the teams will play 2 games each year before Opening Day, 1 in D.C. & 1 in Baltimore.

CJ Abrams was the top storyline heading into spring training. But he’s quietly drifted into the background halfway through camp. What should we make of his slow start to spring? “CJ is fine…Doing everything he needs to do to get ready for the season.” www.masnsports.com/nationals-rs...

The Nats laid out their pitching plan for this weekend, which includes MacKenzie Gore throwing on the back fields instead of in an actual game. On the lefty's work to throw more first-pitch curveballs. Plus, the Nats' Spring Breakout roster.

James Wood and Robert Hassell III took some tough pitches against Sandy Alcantara. The former Cy Young Award winner challenged two ball calls, but the young Nats were proven right by less than a half inch. On their impressive eyes at the plate. www.masnsports.com/blog/wood-an...

A wrap from the Nats' win over the Marlins, in which a group of young players really impressed. "I saw some really good things. … All in all, a really good day swinging the bats." www.masnsports.com/blog/young-n...

More notes from the Nats' first round of roster cuts, including the message to flamethrower Jarlin Susana. "Not try to overthrow. He throws hard enough. More or less, try to throw the ball over the plate." www.masnsports.com/blog/more-on...

Pregame notes on the Nats' defensive work this morning, left-on-left hitting and more! Including James Wood playing the field, Luis García Jr. returning to baseball activity, roster cuts and Dusty Baker visiting camp. www.masnsports.com/blog/nats-wo...

Mitchell Parker needs to improve his fielding. With rookie nerves behind him, he's slowing the game down. “That's definitely one of the ones I said, 'Don't make a fast game faster.' ... Trying to keep everything at an even pace and not overthinking it.” www.masnsports.com/blog/parker-...

After literal up-and-down year, how is Trey Lipscomb trying to earn his spot again? Adding weight, spending time in the sauna & rediscovering himself with help from Ian Desmond. "I was going out there trying to basically be Superman. That's not who I am." www.masnsports.com/blog/with-mo...

MLB, the Nationals and the Orioles announce the MASN dispute has been resolved. The Nats will be free to find their own television rights after this season.

Game 1 notes on Michael Soroka's velocity, Josh Bell's first homer and Jarlin Susana's wildly effective inning. www.masnsports.com/blog/amped-s...

The Nats have developed their young outfielders to play all three positions. They're starting to reap those rewards at the major league level with the fast trio roaming out there. www.masnsports.com/blog/speedy-...

Shinnosuke Ogasawara got his first taste of the Mets' tough lineup, which has $1.298 billion invested in just the first four hitters. He fooled Juan Soto the first time, but not the second. Welcome to the real NL East. www.masnsports.com/blog/ogasawa...

This is Josh Bell's third spring training in West Palm Beach. But this time around, he's the veteran in a young clubhouse, embracing his new leadership role. "When the time's right, I'm going to be able to direct." www.masnsports.com/blog/bell-em...

The somewhat surprising news on Stone Garrett. www.masnsports.com/blog/garrett...

Nats officially announce signing Kyle Finnegan to a one-year deal. They designated Stone Garrett for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

Travis Sykora dominated in his first full pro season while dealing with a minor hip injury and with his velocity "down" in the high 90s. After offseason surgery, he thinks he can be even better and back to triple digits. "I like throwing 100, I guess." www.masnsports.com/blog/after-h...

Davey Martinez was hard on Luis García Jr. last spring, more than anyone else. One year later, García says he needed that tough love to finally break through as a player. "I think what Davey did in spring training, that helped me. That helped me a lot." www.masnsports.com/blog/how-mar...

The wrapup from today’s game, including one costly mistake by DJ Herz, an impressive defensive play by Stone Garrett and another impressive relief appearance from Orlando Ribalta. www.masnsports.com/blog/herz-la...

Juan Yepez is starting in LF today and has been getting reps at 3B in workouts as well. Versatility is his best chance of making the Nats roster this year: "Whatever you want me to do, I'll do. If you want me to put water in the cooler, I'll do it." www.masnsports.com/blog/seeking...

Shinnosuke Ogasawara walked past Jake Irvin, who was answering a question on camera. “I love youuuuu!” Ogasawara exclaimed. “I love you, man!” Irvin immediately replied. On the Nats rotation that's having fun, but competing in camp. www.masnsports.com/blog/nats-ro...

The Nationals face the Marlins in Jupiter today, which means they get their first chance to try out the ABS challenge system. Drew Millas, who had plenty of experience with it at AAA, thinks it actually makes catchers more important than before. www.masnsports.com/blog/first-g...

That viral photo of Jacob Young's biceps ... was it an accurate depiction? "No. I think, honestly, good angle. Whoever was on the camera deserves a raise from me." www.masnsports.com/blog/jacked-...

The Nationals have added three veteran relievers in the last month to a group that was sorely lacking in experienced arms. Is that enough, or are they still looking for more help? "There's never enough." www.masnsports.com/blog/are-rec...

Observations from today's workout, including how the new infield looks and a great quote from one of the guys who had to face Jarlin Susana in live BP. www.masnsports.com/blog/new-loo...

Lucas Sims on his readiness after signing a week into camp with the Nationals, and the mindset change he's making to try to reduce his high walk rate. www.masnsports.com/blog/nats-ad...

Nats officially agreed to terms with right-hander Lucas Sims on a one-year contract and transferred Mason Thompson to the 60-day injured list. More experience to the bullpen.

Josiah Gray won't be throwing off a mound for a few more months, but the simple acts of running PFP drills with teammates and watching others throw bullpens have provided him a boost as he moves into the second half of his Tommy John rehab. www.masnsports.com/blog/rehabbi...

James Wood’s level of concern about quad tendinitis? “Zero.” But the ailment, which began bothering him during the offseason, was enough to warrant an MRI and kept him out of defensive drills on the first day of full-squad workouts. www.masnsports.com/blog/wood-si...

Josh Bell never faulted the Nationals for trading him in 2022: "I would've made the same move." But he always wanted to come back to D.C., and now he's ready to lead a young group that includes a bunch of the guys he was traded for. www.masnsports.com/blog/bell-re...

Nats officially announce signing Paul DeJong on a one-year deal and transferring Josiah Gray to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.

The Nationals’ search for more power has landed on a former All-Star shortstop who figures to be part of the third base equation here. www.masnsports.com/blog/nats-si...

Always thought the Nats would bring in a veteran to compete at third base and have mentioned Paul DeJong as a possible fit. Doesn't hit for average (.229 career), but clubbed 24 homers last year (would have led Nats) and has plus defensive metrics at 3B/SS. Low cost with upside.

Nationals have signed Paul DeJong to a 1-year, $1 million contract, source confirms. 31-year-old infielder hit 24 HR with .703 OPS last season with White Sox/Royals. Gives them another right-handed option at 3B/DH. (@bnightengale.bsky.social was first to report)

"We've got incredible, young, talented players here now. There's no reason we can't win right away." If you can't be optimistic on the first day of spring training, what's even the point? www.masnsports.com/blog/optimis...

If the season started today, who would be the Nationals' closer? "Right now, I don't try to think about it. I think it'll all shape up." On the state of the Nats bullpen, and the possibility of more additions to come this spring: www.masnsports.com/blog/nats-st...
