It turns out one of the two belts is just slightly loose. I was able to tension it back up just by pressing with my finger. Time to find new belts!

Yay, turns out the big yellow deck takes guitar pedal 9V. Radio works! pots are scratchy. Tape deck actually sounds really good on playback, but the take up spindle isn't doing the thing. Gotta clean all dirt off the exterior and then I guess I'm going in 😹
