If you’re waiting for a republican to do the right thing you’ve already lost

Primary blue no matter who.

Hey I've seen this one before

We are dismantling American higher education & scientific research & health care & all the other things to fund concentration camps

*extremely dramatic Guy Picciotto voice* Chiliiiiii’s baby back ribs Chili’s baby back ribs *guttural yet melodic Ian McKaye voice* BARBECUE SAUCE

The singularity is awesome

Hey what do you know about this very obvious thing; do you think treating the very existence of a viable Muslim candidate as de facto antisemitic might be a white supremacist op, or www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-...

I can see why it would concern Democratic leadership, that the same sense of hope for positive change that used to attend Democratic candidates defeating Republicans in elections now attends new Democratic candidates defeating established Democratic candidates in primaries, and for the same reasons.

I can't tell if it's because I'm too NYC focused but does it feel like the news cycle spent more time crashing out on the fact that NYC picked a brown Muslim dude as is primary candidate then it did on a right wing extremist who shot 2 Minnesota legislators killing one, her husband and dog?

Just to be clear; when you put this way, it suggests the Roberts Court *amended the American Constitution* yesterday to eliminate a tool courts have used to rein in executive overreach, and chose to do so *right now* in order assist the consolidation of a reactionary dictatorship.

Meredith has always been a G, but it's still exceptionally weird and very refreshing hearing from a tech exec who can see through all of this AI bullshit for what it is at its foundation: a backdoor surveillance tool.

Thinking about the tut-tutting Democratic politicians who spent their two years in power warning that Supreme Court expansion was too radical an idea to even think about taking seriously. You absolute fucking rubes. You gigantic, credulous losers. I hope you are ashamed of yourselves today.

god damn he's cooking

The Court had no problem with nationwide injunctions from District judges when, say, the Biden administration used its explicit statutory authority to "waive or modify" student loan payments, but when Trump wants to nullify the explicit text of the Fourteenth Amendment the practice must end

As one does when one is simply impartially applying the law in the obvious constitutional way with no underlying agenda

yes. plan to be like george costanza where you keep coming into work after the illegal orders purporting to fire you even if you have to climb through the air ducts to get into your office

Birthright ctizienship is good and essential and we're going to need a second Reconstruction to undo the combined damage of the Roberts Court and the second Trump administration.

Funny how the US has basically the government of Iran now: Supreme Leader who rules by decree, priestly council with token opposition that decides whether the decisions are okay or not on arcane scriptural grounds, and completely ceremonial legislature

there was a time when some small tweaks to how justices were nominated and things like ditching the filibuster and admitting DC as a state were all that was needed to shore up our system of government. but both parties have allowed the rot to fester and now we need to re-do the foundations

Getting real mad about actions not taken in January 2021 again

Litmus Tests are good, actually, and "Do you support court reform" is an example of a particularly good one. "Keep voting Blue and eventually we will get the courts back, best case scenario, could be as soon as 30-40 years from now" is not a plan. The people who said it was lied to you.

And we need a real opposition party that makes this a central plank of its national platform.

I’m clearly not a lawyer so this isn’t legal analysis, but thinking as someone who studies institutions & contentious politics, I’d say we could understand the Supreme Court as having suspended the constitution—it operates to the extent that lower courts & states enforce it despite the Supreme Court

we told you the Supreme Court sucks

if constitutional rights only apply to individuals or states that have sued for relief, you don't actually have constitutional _rights_, you have _privileges_ that can sometimes (but not always) be secured for you by your lawyer

Pack the Court. If we are serious about the defense of these rights, we pack the Court. Simple as that. They pack it back, we pack it again. We do it until we reach consensus on long-term reforms to the judiciary. I don't know what it's going to take for people to get it.

I have serious, possibly irreconcilable differences with anyone who thinks Zohran Mamdani winning the NYC mayoral primary is a bigger threat to the Democratic Party than the shit being churned out by the Neo-Confederates on the Supreme Court

Zionism: A People Reborn - New art in @jewishcurrents.bsky.social jewishcurrents.org/zionism-peop...

Democrats held a trifecta four years ago. We could have had court reform. We all said "please give us court reform." Pelosi & Schumer killed it.

IDF soldiers have now themselves admitted they have been ordered to murder aid-seekers in Gaza. Truly an atrocity built on atrocity. www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

I just checked my blood pressure and it's 100/58 Blewski is supposed to raise my blood pressure! All this happy stuff about Mamdani is making me hypotensive and I might pass out

Absolutely fuck this fascist rag

no. men must never acquire the devastating power of the Novel. in fact we should preemptively invade their country to shut down their efforts to develop fiction

This is on Trump’s head. Should be headline in every paper

Almost forgot to post. Brand new street art in Pilsen just dropped: 18th & Western #Chicago

just saying, if an pro-transit mayor wants to fund some ambitious policies, there is a massive goldmine of 3 million free parking spaces in New York City just sitting there waiting to be metered

Nono, that's Bo Diddly! Bodega is an adjective used in the '80s to describe a very attractive woman

Historically speaking, what's abnormal isn't 30-somethings entering leadership positions, it's 88 year olds running for re-election to Congress.

Eric Adams is amazing because when he won every media person was leaping over each to go “this is the normal sane leadership that the political left doesn’t understand normal sane Americans crave” and then every day since that Eric Adams has been like “Leprechauns are real and I’m going to cook one”
