Probably. Boogaloos are very mixed ideologically, they’re mostly just connected by a push for accelerationism. They’ll show at a BLM rally one day and a MAGA one the next if they think it’ll make the imminent fall happen faster.

Doesn’t really change your point…but were those guys really MAGA? I think they were more Boogaloo. I think one of them even had Trump on his hit list.

100% correct. And yet…it was Michelle Obama who got them all fucked up with the “When they go low…” bullshit.

Diversity of tactics is required. If you think protests don’t matter, find something else to do.

I think there’s a good chance they’ll do that…but also that it may have already done enough damage by the time they do. I am doubtful global economy is not just going to come running back to America because Trump backs down. We’ve betrayed our partners, we won’t just get them back so easily.

What is meant by “these are coming now?” Are they coming, or are they now?

Hey found you over here. And you’re a Royals fan? From KC? Me too (though I haven’t lived there in a long time and I’m more of an NFL guy than MLB). 😁

Yeah I agree with that. And I think it’s their plan. I do believe the man will not leave office peacefully if he’s still alive in 2028, and I think that’s important and that we shouldn’t wait until 2028 to worry about it. But…there are more important things *today*, I agree.

Alright, fair enough then. I’ll just speak for myself: I know there’s no legitimate, legal way he could be president again. So to the extent I talk about him “running,” I am always referring to some illegal way in which he could try to take power. 😁

I don’t think anyone talking about this believes we are discussing “legitimate way” though. We know there’s no legitimate way, we think he will be it an illegitimate way (possibly by trying to make it legitimate).

Which is mostly to agree with you…he wants it to be a distraction and his media is making sure it will be. But is always his side prompting it. Always.
comment in response to

I agree Trump wants this to be a distraction and MSM is buying into it…but he’s been talking about it since Apr 27, ‘19. And he started taking about it on his own. He prompted it.
This time around, it was the Trump state media currently allowed in the WH asking about it that prompted it.

Accelerationism is a helluva drug. 🤷♂️

Well that’s kind of the whole thing, right? You can get into interesting semantic discussions, but ultimately if he tries to retain power by any means, we have a problem. It doesn’t matter if he runs, if he wins, etc. If he’s trying to hold power, we’re screwed. And we agree on what to do then.

To some degree, thigh, you’re right. Fundamentally the reason you and I don’t see eye to eye on a lot of this is that I just think we’re past the point that you do. You sound like me five years ago, still thinking the checks and balances can save us. You agree with me on what to do when we’re…

I went to civil war because I assume that if something has been deemed illegal, it’s because it already went through the courts. Right? How else do we know it’s illegal?
comment in response to

I agree it’s obvious what needs to happen at that point. But I think civil wars do require some planning if you want to win.

I have no doubt that the media noise and moving on from Signalgate is part of the thinking here. But this is a man who told us he wouldn’t leave peacefully in 2020, and then he did not. Why do we believe he will in 2028?
comment in response to

You had serious doubts he could ever win the nominee in 2016. 😁We need to stop underestimating these guys. I have no idea if Trump will run (or find a way to legally run)…but Dems and the opposition need start planning for such things *in case* they happen instead of always being on their back foot.
comment in response to

That’s true, but it’s also why I fear they won’t hold. If Trump’s team ignores an order…then what? The courts seem like the only backstop there is right now, but it can be circumvented simply by ignoring it.

He’ll try to use the military and militias. Even if he legally loses and leaves the White House, he will still control all the militias and potentially the military. If he’s alive in 2028, he will almost certainly hold more power than any other American, whether legally the President or not.

I think we should be planning now for what to do then, because he is telling us straight up that moment is going to come.
comment in response to
post
Yes, that’s my concern. Of course the law will try to stop him. But whether they succeed or don’t, if he has the support and his side has all the guns, it’s not to matter what the courts did.
