This is the occasion — now! — for a formal review and revision of that part of the relationship! I think of Machiavelli noting the importance not just of timing but of recognizing its opportunities. On this matter, Fortuna is knocking now….

Arendt criticizes "progressive" pedagogy-for interesting reasons! She also argues the crisis in education is a symptom of larger crises. I read "The Crisis in Education" as an education into crisis, which she saw as totally necessary given conditions of what she might've called the long 20thC. /2

I believe courage is contagious. I don’t know much about Maine’s governor but she is no Susan Collins! And right now this Governor is a beacon. Whatever she’s got, I hope everyone catches it.

“this is about whether a President can force compliance with his will, without regard for the rule of law that governs our nation. I believe he cannot. In America, the President is neither a King nor a dictator, as much as this one tries to act like it..the rule of law prevents him from being so.”

“What and who will he target next? Will it be because of your race or your religion? Will it be because you look different or think differently? Where does it end?”

“Maine may be one of the first states to undergo an investigation by his Administration, but we won’t be the last. Today, the President of the United States has targeted one particular group on one particular issue which Maine law has addressed. But you must ask yourself:
