🔬 Excited to share our latest paper! We’ve found how Spd-2 coordinates with Polo and Aurora A to build critical scaffolds in centrosome assembly in Drosophila. 🧬 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Soooo excited to share this, just published. www.nature.com/articles/s41.... It started as a crazy ‘Friday afternoon’ experiment and just… worked. And kept on working. We fused a #nanobody to a #thioesterase. This delivers the thioesterase to a target and specifically depalmitoylates this protein

Exciting news! Our latest paper reveals that Spd-2 (CEP192) recruits Polo & Aurora A to build two scaffolds—Polo-dependent Cnn (for strength) & Aurora A–dependent TACC (for protein concentration)—crucial for centrosome assembly in Drosophila. #CellBiology #Centrosome www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Happy to share our paper’s final version on the evolution, structure, and membrane binding / remodeling of Asgard ESCRT-III proteins! And my first 🦋 post! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Anyone out in BlueSky land work with Aspergillus, that does MIC testing? We have a drug we want to test... #Collaboration #FungalResistance

Happy to share our new study showing that the Ub E3 ligase SIAH1, known to dimerise via its C-term SBD, also dimerises via its N-term RING. When these tendencies combine, full-length SIAH1 forms multimers, which might explain its clustering in cells & preference for aggregated/multimeric substrates.

MC4R regulates #BodyWeight at hypothalamic neuronal #cilia, but its levels are normally v low. @nachury.bsky.social &co show that MC4R accumulation is prevented via continuous ubiquitin- & β-arrestin-dependent exit from cilia, unless MC4R is inhibited by AgRP 🧪 @plosbiology.org plos.io/40MWUUz

To all my #cebtriole/#flagella/#cilia colleagues ! Anyone seen a protein localizing only to one of two flagella ?

It’s incredibly hard to study lipids in biological membranes on the nanoscale. You need near-perfect information on both membrane ultrastructure and lipid density, which usually isn’t attainable. Lipid-CLEM brought to you by @mathilda95.bsky.social changes that. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Hi folks, I'm excited to share a whale of a tale (sorry, bad pun), where we engineer snowflake yeast to express sperm whale myoglobin, and explore how oxygen-binding proteins may have helped overcome anatomical limitations to early multicellularity. 🧪 #MEvoSky journals.plos.org/plosbiology/...

Wow! We got the cover! #MBOC #ASCB #CellBio So proud of #TeamTestis. Screening <270 lines for shape defects was a huge team effort! I created this collage from the team’s images from the past 2 years! Depth-color-coded with Fiji. Inspired by late 19th century lithographic animal illustrations.

Super important resource! And worth raising awareness, especially given the uncertainties at the NIH (although it would still be devastating if PubMed went down)🧪

Question: Does anyone have any good suggestions for a genetically encoded tension sensor to express in cells? Something like a cortical tension sensor or cell-cell tension sensor. I can't use dye like Flipper. Thank you. #question #biosensor
