When I shutdown Windows using the provided menu choice I expect it to turn off the computer. But no, it shuts down Windows and keeps the power on. So after booting it back up of course the mirrored volume is resynching. OF COURSE it is. Just top quality garbage all the way down.

I'm so old that I remember when technology was designed to help us, not get in our way.

SoCal is a desert. The fact that Humans stupidly decided to populate it doesn't change that fact.

Why would you believe anything an A.I. bot says??

Beware! For example, there is a subset of baseball analysts who believe that if something can't be or isn't measured, then it is not useful to consider. Be smarter than they are.

I'm just throwing out my concept of a plan in the hopes that people much smarter than I can at least vet the idea instead of being laser-focused on one and only one centralized way to approach it.

Ah! Well, nevertheless...

Why revert to a system that is vulnerable to a rich cry baby usurping it when we can use something similar to an organic "web of trust" approach that does not rely on a single entity? If there's a natural solution buried in here, let's use it.

I just stumbled across this Starter Pack that *might* be of help, plus check my WebDev List for people who I've added ages ago who might be of use. A lot of Black Friday sales of tutorials and such, it appears. bsky.app/starter-pack...

It's becoming apparent to me that BSky offering freedom of choice is flummoxing the daylights out of migrants from Twitter.

There are no 10-20 minute lectures in Jumpstart. Just 4 minutes on a new topic and then 30 minutes trying it yourself. (You'll repeat that process many times 🔁) My Python Jumpstart course is 50% off through Monday. Ready to jumpstart your learning? 🎓 https://pym.dev/courses/jumpstart/overview/

Why must it be ONE entity? A distributed network demands a distributed authentication scheme that renders it impervious to direct attack. That's how Usenet and the Internet itself were designed: take out one link and there are others to carry the load.

The solution resembles the "web of trust" discussed in cryptography man pages and elaborated from there. If some account has thousands of other trusted accounts who vouch for it, that's pretty strong authentication that can't be tampered with by buying the cert authority, for example.

I guess some genius is still toiling away in his basement to design a site that is all things to all people, so they'd never need to leave the site.

Side rant: I wish RN would stop using strings and hashmaps to pass data around. This is /extremely/ inefficient, especially when JVM is involved. I understand that they coming from JS with objects so it makes sense, but can we keep to JVM friendly primitives for Android when possible?
