Barely 5c and drizzle outside. A couple of words come to mind looking outside today - "Dreich" and "pish" !

Never mind any snow.. here it has been very wet and eventually very mild with temp now 12.1°c. 33mm of rain since 6pm last evening - at least the worst of the rain has now cleared.

First air frost of the season here - minimum -0.9c. Colder out in the sticks - Hurn at -5c

Rainfall in 2024 ended up at 1055.2mm - a relatively dry last 11 days meant that in the end we only just beat the previous wettest year this century (2023). The annual mean here is 788mm, so 134% of the annual mean here.

Today's rain takes the annual total to 1050.8mm, 2nd highest this century above the infamous 2014. Only 2.4mm to go to take top spot off last year which ended at 1053.2mm. Looks certain to be passed tomorrow when the next low comes in.

Hurn aviation forecast as of 1055GMT.. Wind currently WNW, forecast to move round to NW then NNW during the afternoon. Continuing risk of 60mph+ gusts for the next 2h, with winds continuing to peak over 40mph up to end of fcast period of 2100gmt #StormDarragh

Over the weekend, 2024's rainfall passed the 1000mm mark. Only the third year this century to do so (the others being last year, and 2014. Current year total is 1020.6mm and it is likely that we will beat last years century-high 1053.2mm. Yearly average is 787mm.

23.8mm - (just under an inch) of rain fell overnight. Thanbkfully the rain has now cleared the area.

Winds gusting around 45mph on the roof so far today. Hurn aviation forecast does not suggest much change in the current conditions before 6pm. Sadly likely to ruin #afcb v #bhafc this afternoon with the winds coming from the direction of the corner of main and Ted Mac stands.

Very marginal rain/snow situation in Dorset this morning. No snow so far in Bmth, though there was some ice in the rain when it began around 8am. Snow in Verwood now and there are signs of the rain turning a bit sleety even here as temps fall to 2C

Overnight minimum 0.4c, just escaped an air frost here. Much colder at Hurn as is always the case in these setups.. -3c when I looked.

12c here to start off with this morning, but much colder air just to the north. Farnboro 3c, RAF Benson (Oxfordshire) 0c, Bristol 1c

Temperature dipped to 4.7°c overnight - the lowest so far this season. Expecting that to be well beaten in the next few days.....

13mm of rain overnight, of which 9mm fell in just one hour to 6am. October total now 104mm, exceeding the monthly average of 96mm with more than a third of the month still to go #bournemouth #weather
