I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Today's poster session results! Had a good little group of folks come through and print some new posters. I'll hang up more tomorrow after they dry but I couldn't wait to get a sample of each on the wall. #letterpress

It is very hard to distill everything I want to say into a few big words on a poster (even harder when I have limited letters to work with.) I'm overthinking what I want to say because I want to say so much, and say it in a way that it's clear and can't be misinterpreted. Simple is hard.

Today's iteration of the poster wall (all that was left this morning was the protect democracy posters) with some extras from last week. Tomorrow we do another open printing session after my class so there should be some fresh ideas up here soon!

A kind of sad mission today, salvaging scrap type and handles from a dear departed friend's shop.

Lydian was an ATF exclusive designed by Warren Chappell starting in 1938. It's the face used on the original covers of Nancy Drew books, as well as the end credits for FRIENDS. We have virtually all of the original matrices for the entire family. Help us save Lydian! Follow and share.

This is the kind of deep dive on typefaces and typecasting you'll find from @printingstewards.bsky.social Did you know we have a collection of the ACTUAL MATRICES that ATF used to cast type that YOU MIGHT HAVE??

@printingstewards.bsky.social are live on bsky! Type nerds, follow and rejoice.

The poster wall evolves with some new posters I ran after class. Holding another open printing session next week! These were going fast when I left.

I guess people liked the posters Gotta print more!

Adobe left so fast I didn't even get to dunk on them, good job bsky

I might need to reprint that poster and just have it say "money is fake"on both sides

Switching my poster back to "money is fake" at the top

Coming soon, new thank you cards for spring! Featuring the new VWT Primrose border that I engraved and cast this winter. Thanks to James Grieshaber for designing a new version of his original 4-line wood type. I paired it with a face called Regina, for the perfect Art Nouveau-y vibes. #letterpress

I might not have made it to DC today but some of my signs did!

Excellent letterpress installation on the 3rd floor of the Center for the Arts as I was walking into work today.

Now that's a mat. From the Greg Walters collection, this is an original ATF mat to create a mortised capital. #typecasting

People are taking the posters!

I hung up a poster cloud of prints made at our open printing session last week. Made by students and staff (most of whom had never printed before.) Tomorrow I'll add a sign: Need a poster? Take a poster! I hope students will take me up on that.

My demo for my letterpress class today. 12 line wood type printed on a Vandercook press. @booker.senate.gov
