Really powerful example you both set.
And way more for some of us that are older.
Fair taxation and UBI are a good start.
Study the depression for Trump's game plan.
Guessing you misread 2002 for 2020?

Volunteer for life.
Remember the fallen. Help the forgotten.
Always.
Semper Fidelis.
Also, we had the y2k scare. I mean maybe it wasn't anything comparable to the other crap but I remember being like are we going to die because "It's all computer."
We remember the gas lines, the government cheese, Reaganomics. Inflation. That 80s boom-and-bust.
We even had our own pandemic in AIDS. It's just they all weren't around to see it back then.
Oligarchs benefit from waves of economic collapse, where they use their significant reserves to buy up the best land, drive their competitors out of business, and reap families hard earned savings.
Savings and Loan Collapse, late 1980's: Caused by deregulation.
Enron, 1990's: Rolling blackouts across the US because of a recently deregulated energy market.
Housing Bubble, 2000's: Recently deregulated Credit Default Swaps used to hide Mortgage Mills. Collapses Housing market.
I think this should be required reading right now.
It’s 1989. I’m 24. The Berlin Wall fell. We had hope.
It’s 2001. I’m 36. Everything changed in a couple of hours.
It’s 2025. I turn 60. I don’t even know what to write now. 😞
brief moment of hope. Thank you for reminding me.
At least in the 80s, we had WICKED cool style!
In the 80s nobody thought the Soviet Union could collapse. From the Berlin Wall to the end of the USSR it was only 2 years.
In light of which... I give the USA a couple of months.
Tops.
So tired of the US and their inability to vote out the GOP once and for all.
Investing right now is like trying to nail jellyfish to a wall.
I moved in 2002 from KS > NC. I moved in 2008 from MD > KS.
i distinctly remember finding $6.50/gal gas in 2008 and being *happy* because it was *cheap* and oh gods i think i'm going to just go to bed instead of reminisce.
In 2025 Forbes list counted >3000 billionairs.
It seems economy was not that bad for all of us.
they tend to do worse in those even if some of them always seem to escape.
I’d say it’s their cockroach nature but I don’t wanna insult roaches by comparing them to oligarchs.
I wish i have their problems when the shit goes down.
I think this is gonna be way worse… but I think that’s gonna make it harder for some people to escape justice.
folk just don’t have much more to lose.
Sorry.
And no, i did not double my assets, while others loose their jobs and do not know how to get through the next month.
ELECT A FELON EXPECT CRIME
SHOW up 4/5/25.... we need to REALLY make a statement and make THEM nervous
Brother, do we all fucking feel that right now.
You say, ah it’s been a tough day, I’ll borrow a couple from tomorrow’s allocation to get us through. tomorrow you say ah it’s been a rough day, I’ll take one from tomorrow and one from the next day to make it up.
Ike was alright because at least he taxed the rich at 80%
I can remember making $32k in 07 our first year married btwn the 2 of us. Idk how we did it.
Seems like we have as much buying power as then...
Now it's just praying they don't kill my profession.
It's so scary.
I was 10 in 2001. 16 in 2008.
I had my second baby in 2020. Went back to school again at 30 with 2 kids. Not sure we will ever stop renting.
I don’t really remember a time when the world wasn’t in crisis.
completely self inflicted!!
Republicans have always sucked and have always been traitors. Nixon=Traitor, Reagan=Traitor. Bush 2=Moron. Trump=Mega Traitor.
GHWB was not too bad.
2002 belongs to the GOP (Bush)
2008 also belongs to GOP (Bush)
2020 also belongs to GOP (Trump's COVID F-up)
2025 also belongs to the GOP (guess who?)
Are we seeing a pattern here?
Who's down for more GOP in their lives??
1987 market crash GOP (Reagan)
More stupid GOP tariffs!!
Yeah.
And that was - drum roll please - Reagan. Who won 49 OF THE 50 STATES. Suck on THAT, Trump.

It is 2008. I am 34 yrs old. I made millions while helping the economy collapse.
It is 2020. I am 46 yrs old. I've reached a billion. Everything is so cheap.
It is 2025. I am 51 yrs old. I have billions. It is not enough...
Christopher Titus: "The rich think the poor have too much."
I started a programming job just after the dot-com bust and salaries had just dropped about 20%, this was the reason cited.
