This is how you do it. Other news agencies like Axios and CBS, stop rolling over! Grow a spine, stand up straight and fight!

Former Trump National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow: "There could be some short term, one-off price hikes — the economic signals are flashing slower growth and higher inflation. Not good."

Several good things are happening according r/fednews so I am going to drop them here. If federal workers are fighting back, how much more us? A thread/

No doubt last night’s purge reflects racism and misogyny. But those wrongs are just a cover for the far more serious evils and dangers that exist here.

None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

“What about looking at the law and military regulations on the use of force against civilians? Remember, the former SecDef refused to order troops to shoot protestors in the legs under Trump’s first regime. (1/2)

He nails it.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Chief of Naval Operations were hired because they were superbly qualified, not because of DEI. But they were fired because they were black and a woman. That's racism and sexism. Call it what it is.

Unfortunately I won’t be to DC in time, but this rally for Ukraine is happening in Lincoln memorial. Attend if you can and Slava Ukrainii!

Under her command, the US Navy met its recruiting goals last year. The Army did not. She made being in the Navy more tolerable, based on experience of more than 20 years of her career at sea. People wanted to join Navy, to the point they had to deny people because the training slots were filled.

Here it comes. The #TrumpDepression

“Westerners do not want to see a rollback of national monument protections and there is no mandate for oil and gas development. Voters from all political ideologies are united in support of public land conservation in the West.” insideclimatenews.org/news/1902202...

Wise man…

Something is shifting. They are still breaking things and stealing things. And they will keep trying to break and to steal. But the propaganda magic around the oligarchical coup is fading. (1/2)

not looking at something doesn't make it go away. that's object permanence. something children typically develop by the age of two. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

WaPo Page One: “If you’re going to just yell at me, that’s not going to be an effective town hall,” McCormick said .. “But we’re pissed!” a woman shouted. #GA07 www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Raskin: "It's becoming obvious to the American people that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are not opponents of corruption, they are agents of corruption."

RE: Trump’s Firing of Air Force General C.Q. Brown as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff As commander-in-chief, Trump’s powers to fire or punish military officers are LIMITED BY LAW. www.brookings.edu/articles/doe...

The Trump administration has pulled the CDC's flu vax ads. It'd irk Trump no end if social media took over the campaign. Maybe US friends could keep the CDC's graphics going for them? #FightFlu

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position. www.maine.gov/governor/mil...

Hegseth’s biography is on the left, General Brown’s on the right. Go read these to someone without telling them who they are and then ask them to choose who is better qualified to hold the positions of SECDEF and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

So the President not only fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He also fired the top JAGs at the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those are the lead people who determine what is a legal order and what is not. So if you're planning to do things that are illegal they're the most obvious obstacle.

WYOMING: “Thank you, Madam chairman.” “I prefer ‘Mister’ chairman.” “Well you all voted preferred pronouns cannot be compelled speech.”

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Mogensen was a Commander of the International Space Station.

Replacing the military brass and attorneys with three-star generals you pluck from retirement is exactly what a dictator looking to use an army to do some violence does.

This will directly affect the future, & the present, of Pennsylvania & the country. Jonas Salk invented the Polio vaccine at Pitt. Pitt helped unlock DNA & pioneered organ transplants. Musk is offering a future where Americans are poorer, sicker, & less free. One word: NO www.wesa.fm/health-scien...

A federal judge blocked Trump's sweeping executive order ending government support for DEI programs

Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on? A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

Great news to end the week on. Meanwhile, the ABA has temporarily suspended enforcement of its diversity and inclusion standard for law schools.

BREAKING: The Associated Press sues three Trump administration officials over access to presidential events, citing the First Amendment.

Universities really need to pay attention to this. It's not just about the indirects and frozen funds. If these layoffs continue, which by all signs are continuing and going well beyond probationary employees, ***these agencies will not be functional, including NIH, CDC, and NSF***

As Gernot Wagner said over on Mastodon, Shutting down already installed infrastructure isn't "efficiency," it's sabotage. electrek.co/2025/02/21/t...

So they removed the black chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the middle of his 4-year tour, without cause, and they're seeking to replace him with a white **retired** Air Force three-star general who lacks the requisite experience as a service chief or combatant commander? Huh, how about that

Rep Raskin has been great. Rep Ocasio-Cortez has been great. And Rep Frost and Rep Crockett. Senator Murphy. Maybe no one knew exactly what to do. But such people laid down a clear marker. Let’s respect these and other elected federal representatives who stood out these first few weeks.
