NSF employees were unlawfully reclassified from career to probationary, and then fired. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

Following Elon Musk, the world's richest man, two speakers at CPAC, Steve Bannon, who was pardoned by Donald Trump, and Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui, have now given Nazi salutes. This is a major scandal + should push us all to mobilize, protest, and call out #CPAC for what it is: a Nazi rally.

Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on? A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

So the President not only fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He also fired the top JAGs at the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those are the lead people who determine what is a legal order and what is not. So if you're planning to do things that are illegal they're the most obvious obstacle.

BREAKING — States attorneys general lead by @newyorkstateag.bsky.social were just granted a preliminary injunction in their case against DOGE. The team cannot access Treasury Department payment systems or data while the lawsuit proceeds. Major.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

another thing every other president in history would be impeached for just happened

Over 70 cases have been filed against the Trump Administration’s executive orders or agency actions. Here’s what’s happening in the courts:

Here’s how many billions Elon Musk’s companies are making from U.S. taxpayers

The right wing woman is not insincere in her politics, but she *is* tactical: she believes that sexual and reproductive service to right wing men will earn her their protection, affection, and material support. She is wrong.

How many federal workers would DOGE need to fire to make up for Musk not paying his fair share of taxes? Answer: 677,000. That's 44% of the entire non-DoD federal workforce. Again, this power grab is not about the budget. It’s about politics.

Legendary hater Charles Darwin

Musk called DOGE “maximally transparent,” but it has refused to release info about its spending and operations — including the names of its employees. Thankfully, @propublica.org has identified 46 of them, including 12 new names just added to the list today.

New: DOGE's spending has been secret. No longer. My colleagues have uncovered it. www.propublica.org/article/doge...

If you’re wondering why I declined to talk to the NYTimes, then you haven’t been following my account for very long. They bear a direct responsibility for the current situation we find ourselves in, and I responded by laying out my position and that I would only talk to @jamellebouie.net

Uhm, guys. Last night on Jesse Waters show Howard Lutnick, Trump's top economic adviser said: "Think about it,we have almost $4 trillion of entitlements and no one has looked at it before. You know social security is wrong, you know medicaid and medicare are wrong so he's going to cut one trillion…"

New — Social Security Administration (SSA) probationary employees were told today that they have eight hours to agree to be reassigned to a field office, tele-service center or payment center and waive all rights to appeal reassignment, or they will be fired, agency source tells me.

Susan Collins chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee and has the power to push back against the Trump-Musk misuse of federal funds. If you live in Maine and are ... concerned? troubled? worried? ... let her know and let her know often.

“the United States is not a startup. The federal government exists to do all of the things that are definitionally not profitable, that serve the public good rather than protect investor profits. (The vast majority of startups also fail, something the United States cannot afford to do.)”

Using Twitter regularly is highly unethical, and a significant personal failing for people that do.

people don't understand how dangerous this could be - a license for tightly controlled corporations to loot them from within from their stockholders (i.e. your pension, 401k etc which hold them in index funds)

Musk/Trump/NYT is going to call firing IRS agents savings, but the lost revenue will be many times their salaries: this all about making it easier for rich people to cheat on their taxes.

How we did it: Texas Won’t Study How Its Abortion Ban Impacts Women, So We Did

it appears Delaware Dems and the (also Dem) governor are attempting to rip up Delaware corporate law so they can give 55 billion dollars to Elon Musk, with a bill written by Elon's own lawyers www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/02/...

This is a good reminder that anytime you try to find some kind of 4D chess reason for what Musk does, the reality is much likelier that he is a complete idiot who has no idea how the world works, yet he is powerful and rich and wields near complete loyalty from others so he gets what he wants.

This isn’t access. It’s proximity.

8 Republicans are calling on Speaker Johnson not to target Medicaid. One short of the number it would take to oust Johnson.

This is embarrassingly stupid. This is literally Senate Dems handing censorship power to Donald Trump and Elon Musk. WTF are they thinking?

Five major airlines are suing to overturn a rule from then-Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg that actually holds airlines accountable for damaging disabled people's wheelchairs. New from me at @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

above all else the current crop of republicans in congress are the most pathetic cowards to ever serve in washington www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Oh yes, Homer’s famous “Tes Thdpssssps.” 👍🏻

The game is this. They're going to make the largest cuts to Medicaid ever. They're going to uninsure millions if not 10s of millions and they're going to say they're just adding work requirements. They'll kill thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, with paperwork. punchbowl.news/archive/2202...

If you live in LA go to Union Station at 9AM to protest this criminal administration

BREAKING: Another win for the lawyers protecting birthright citizenship. A 9th Cir. panel -- the first circuit to weigh-in in these cases -- denies the Trump admin's emergency request to let the EO rescinding birthright citizenship go into effect, saying the admin is unlikely to win on the merits🧵

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

our election security agency is now open to a teenager who was verifiably part of a CSAM extortion ring

Remarkable thread offering guidance to current and prospective NSF grantees about how to navigate the times ahead — from an NSF program officer who was fired in yesterday's DOGE purge (!)

Upon learning that yesterday would be my last day as a program officer at the National Science Foundation, I shared this parting message with my colleagues. The next few months will be frenetic and stressful for them. Here are some things that you can do to help them with the mission ahead. (1)

There's a few interesting numbers in this poll, but the headline is job approval of Congressional Dems is 49 disapprove, 40 approve *among Democrats.* If you're still pitching the "Bluesky isn't real life, Normal Democrats aren't mad at leadership," it may be time to reassess.
