It does raise the question of why we needed a special HEC for this.

Now I’m exhausted and in the having to fend off all the feelings that everyone hates me (they don’t; my anxiety is not rational).

The bad side of it is that I had dry heaves on the way over both times. Which is unfair.

My ethos has a focus on harm minimisation. But I also want positives. Finding win wins is important.

It’s not enjoyable but that’s where I am.
Trying to be constructively critical is really tricky. You have to build up positive credit not to just be dismissed which magnifies the work you need to do.
You must nurture the positive and help mitigate the negative.

I try to work constructively but this is part of what being of high rank (I.e. a Prof) is supposed to be about. I don’t have tenure (no one does in the UK) but I’m about as secure as one can be in academia. Hence my obligation to try to make that space.
