Just use the timeless response from the Cleveland Browns: "I feel that you should be aware that some asshole is signing your name to stupid letters."

I will keep harping on this: I will never understand this theory because why do Republicans always insist the new voters will vote Democratic? Didn't they just brag about their advancements with the young and with Latinos? I, for one, would welcome new voters I could convince to vote for me

Billy Ashley making an appearance, albeit as a battery, but still! Billy Ashley!

2010-11 Lakers (my team!) comes to mind. Came off of back to back titles and just got obliterated by Dallas

Random question (spurred by chilling on a couch & based on your love of old baseball cards) - do you have a good book on old timey baseball? Like, the first two of three episodes of the Burns doc condensed to book form? Sorry again for the randomness, but I'm a big fan of your card posts

Trump will pardon every single person when he's heading out the door, including himself. The only way it doesn't happen is if Musk alienates Trump and gets left out of the will so to speak

But at the end of the day, the decision was right. The case was literally about whether the government could prohibit the showing of a movie critical of a presidential candidate within 60 days before an election. How can we have a free society when the government can restrict that speech?

I honestly thought his response was a bit

It's also legally unenforceable. I could certainly argue that the 1619 Project or whatever is honest, inspiring, and ennobling since it arguably demonstrates how far we've come etc. Hopefully the school districts don't just roll over

Except I can think of multiple examples on each side in which crackpot law articles turned into Supreme Court precedent. From articles about original meaning of the 2nd amendment to the non-delegation doctrine to articles about same sex marriage and equal production and trans rights. It's effective

Why do you think it wouldn't be drafted in a way to only take away assistance from Blue states? Not like the GOP hasn't done this before with the elimination of the SALT deduction. The goal is to punish California, and that's it. Adjust accordingly.

I heard a very impassioned plea this morning for Steve Garvey on the Dan Patrick Show, but I think that ship has long since sailed

Is that the one in the San Fernando valley? Great place for kids birthday parties and, apparently, still for awkward high school dates

That doesn't seem to apply in football or basketball. Patrick Mahomes and Kelce can have national commercials for State Farm in Kansas City. CP3 and Lillard had national commercials in Houston and Portland. But baseball doesn't seem to have that national reach.

This has to be a bit. You and that guy who thinks Kershaw isn't yet a Hall of Famer should hang out on Twitter sometime

It really is a shame - I used to subscribe, and I loved reading the book reviews especially, and I learned so much from them about stuff I otherwise never would have sought out. But then Trump happened and the Flight 93 Election and that was that.

If you're wondering who actually threw the pie. I feel like we should know Mr. Higgins' name, and cast Ms. Bryant to the dustbin of history. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_...

It's literally raining ash in Boyle Heights, and the moon is a dark orange. I'm not particularly close to any fire, but I'm terrified for my parents who live in the hills of LA and my friends in Sierra Madre

Almost positive my dad has that same 57 somewhere in his sleeve of cards. I'm bummed my kids won't have the same mythical connection to old baseball cards - my dad brought his home when he went back to his own home and dug them out of the attic in a cardboard box. So it goes I guess

Jesus. What a fall for Cartaya. Feel like with the Dodgers it's there's no such thing as a catching prospect

Was a return to normalcy not an important message? Now why they pivoted away from "weird" is up for debate, but I don't think pushing for a return to bread and butter politics and normality was wrong.

Can I ask where she got the stickers from? Those are great, and I'd love to use them to give out our avocados (we have more than we can handle; even the squirrels don't want any more).

Could you grill or smoke veggies as well? Maybe eggplant or something else sturdy? Might not be traditional, but it might tie it all together so the vegan doesn't feel left out. Just need to make sure the grill/utensils don't cross-contaminate, which is a pain.

Not a particular fan of the "yeesh", which is definitely the sound I make when negotiations are going well, or are actually just going.

Need to incorporate this into @fangraphs.com new We Tried Tracker. "Look, we were even willing to pay the CBT, but we just couldn't quite reach an agreement!"

How would the data have been affected if you had removed some of those games where the Dodgers punted? I.e. throwing Brent Honeywell out there to get lit up multiple times?

My dog Milo did this on Broadway in the middle of downtown LA - escaped his harness and proceeded to run through the middle of the street happy as could be. Luckily, cars stopped; and he was corralled thanks to a very helpful person who offered him a grilled cheese from Grand Central Market.
