He's a terrible cop - he's hardly killed any innocent by-standers, & his record on beating suspects to death & stealing their wallets & drugs is pathetic. He wouldn't make the grade in any real US police force.

Labour restricted the right to buy last year on social homes. www.gov.uk/government/n...

It does seem ridiculously unbalanced. I dont remember the Greens, for example, getting the same coverage for their change of leadership.

It isn't a resounding vote of confidence for Reform, as was claimed though - is it? By-Elections won by LibDems over the years have had 70+% turnouts. Your comment sounds more like sour grapes, to me.

And we all have a special hatred of those who design the packaging!

Im *hoping* Government will find a way to get the message across effectively to the public about how many targets it is meeting, & that the public will understand over that time period that the media hysteria was all unfounded, that they are in fact feeling better off, & NHS etc working better.

Because it would have a chance of negating and overpowering the 10 years of evidence-free disinformation that led us to where we are now. Pressing ahead as you suggest without a mandate would just gift ammunition to media that are already damaging Labour with lies. Lies can be exposed in time.
comment in response to post
You might, but that wouldnt convince enough of the people who voted for Brexit & fell for disinformation to resist it next time the Tories get into Government. That will take 10+ years backed by solid economic figures that cant be lied or shrugged away. Labour must *prove* Brexit is a failure.

You seem to have survived just fine.

The Comms team can't force media to print what they are told. Thats what a free Press is. Your opinion as expressed just parrots the disinformation the media is putting out. Do better!

Those "10 pledges" were during Starmer's leadership bid following the disastrous 2019 Election, which left the Tories with a majority that *should have* normally taken 10+ years to overturn. Since then - pandemic & economic meltdown. Its a different world. There's progress on 8/10, in just a year

Grow up.

Its not actually happening. And I assume you mean the polls that said Labour would come 3rd in Scotland's by-election (the one they won...)?

I wonder what could motivate the Tory-appointed BBC & historically fascist-owned Express & Mail etc to want a fascist Government? (Moot question, no reply needed)
comment in response to post
Doing that without harming Press freedom is difficult though. There are answers, but they probably lie further down the road, & include ensuring British media isnt foreign owned, aothough thats not as easy as it sounds.
comment in response to post
No. Because neither of those happened.

Thats why I posted it, & thats (fortunately) why many are reposting it too.

I see - so you think that *increasing the tax burden* & damaging the economy was the thing the UK needed, even though we already have the highest tax burden for 100 years...? There is indeed a moron but its not Labour, & its not me either.
comment in response to post
They have no mandate to do that though. So instead, they are doing what they *are mandated* to do - form closer ties to the EU, & minimise trade barriers as far as possible while staying out of the Customs Union & Single Market. We'll Rejoin, but its a decade away. Blame Farage.

Labour isn't supporting Israel, they are criticising the actions of Netanyahu's Government every day. The "support" you think is happening is just an indication of how poorly informed you are, & how little critical thinking you are doing.

The Council is, however, dealing with the empty mouses in Bradford - there are half the number now that there were in 2009. www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/politic...

Its not a case of "either - or" you know... Doing both is equally valuable & equally useful.

Utter nonsense, "Martin". Try reading the Manifesto.

Im pretty certain they will just file it under "πŸ€—" as always, & no case will go forward.

Here's where Labour are heading, by the way: In 11 months, the Labour Government already delivered or are on course to deliver 26 of their 59 Election Manifesto pledges, wit 16 others in progress. If Media reported this more honestly, voters might be less "concerned". fullfact.org/government-t...

Im sure thats the case, yes, but everyone seems to avoid commenting "due to ongoing criminal investigations" for fear of biasing possible future proceedings, so Im still baffled.
comment in response to post
I find it curious that media (includig social) can be prevented from commenting in any way on ongoing criminal cases due to the potential to "prejudice any possible trial", yet it was deemed OK to put out a 2-part documentary on her in this way... How will they find an impartial jury?

Herons will certainly spot & scoff goldfish unless the pond is covered from overhead view, but smaller ones are adept at hiding in weed, & can also turn dark (even black) very quickly. I cant imagine using Marmite as slug trap/repellent, I like eating it too much to "waste" any!

And Ireland...
comment in response to post
It clearly is too much to ask - as will always be the case when media is owned by people with little interest in the country they broadcast in, & with their own loaded political agenda to push. The BBC used to give what you crave, but those days are long gone due to the Tory appointments...

You are definitely on the right track, & way ahead of most people. But they will all be pushed onto the same road eventually (once we can convince Water Companies that *they don't* own the rain...πŸ™„)

You're right on all counts (as usual!) - our skin spends all day making specific oils & building specific microflora to stay healthy, only to have it all washed out by harsh chemicals (including the chlorine in tap water) several times a day & smothered in other crap... Rainwater collection is good!

I think we have plurality - every party & faction publicises its views. What we *dont have* is Media - Print, TV, Radio or Social Media - that gives us (or makes us see) equal, objective access to all those views with neutral commentary on how seriously we should take them or how practical they are.
